Exciting New Information About Earning Graduate Credit
CMR Institute is proud to provide our students additional opportunities to leverage completed CMR coursework to pursue a graduate degree. We continue to work with the American Council on Education (ACE) to have our courses rigorously evaluated for graduate-level credit recommendations that may be transferred toward a master’s degree program.
We are pleased to announce that during our most recent ACE review, the number of courses receiving graduate credit recommendation increased and, in most cases, the number of credits earned per course also increased. This is a significant student benefit that will enable students to earn credit toward a graduate degree more quickly and economically. As of September 2006, 29 courses offer a graduate-level supplement. Like other CMR Institute courses, the graduate-level supplement constitutes an objectives-oriented, self-directed, instructional learning experience with expert-designed materials and clear performance expectations. In addition, graduate-level courses provide opportunities to reflect on the skills and knowledge being learned and to submit written assignments that will challenge students to apply course content to personally relevant situations. The final course exam also provides an opportunity to demonstrate skills reflecting a deeper level of understanding related to the course content.
The courses with graduate supplements include new assessment and evaluative criteria. To earn graduate-level credit recommendations, it is necessary to complete the following course requirements:
1. The regular CMR Certification exam with a passing grade of 80% or better. 2. Two writing assignments meeting evaluation criteria included with each assignment. 3. A case-based, multiple-choice (15 to 25 questions) final exam with a passing grade of 80% or better.
If you are interested in pursuing an advanced degree and want to apply ACE recommended graduate credits from CMR Institute, you will need to register for the graduate level supplement, which is a 5000-level course, as well as the regular course. You will continue to register for CMR Institute courses through your normal process. As you are ready for the graduate-level portion of the course, contact the Educational Services Department to purchase the graduate supplement. Each supplement will cost $25 per CMR Institute credit.
Course registrations prior to September 2006 carry graduate level credit recommendations from the previous ACE review and do not have the additional course and evaluation requirements.
