The 2009 Acura RL is so well appointed with the latest high-tech instruments and accessories that you’ll travel like a techno-king. For the daily commute or the weekend trip, this lavishly appointed RL sedan has everything covered.
Cutting-edge technology never looked as sharp as in the 2009 Acura RL sedan (MSRP $46,680). So potent with 300 hp from a 3.7-liter SOHC VTEC V6 engine and Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD), this most upscale of the Acura sedan lineup is absolutely one very smart car. It pushes the envelope and sets a new standard with the addition of high-tech items that enhance the already robust list of features found on the previous RL. This vehicle is designed for those who are, in Acura’s words, “looking to travel more quickly, more efficiently and more connected to the world” around them.
All 2009 Acura RL's come with the new 3.7-liter V6 engine. Adding to this powerplant is Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ for optimal control, a Bose surround-sound audio system and Bluetooth HandsFreeLink® connectivity. The numerous standard fare advanced technologies it touts, as well as the remarkable optional tech packages and individual features, allow it to practically drive itself!
The 2009 Acura RL offers three trim levels – RL, RL with Technology Package and RL with Technology and Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) / Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Packages.
Let’s look at the Technology Package, which boasts safety and convenience enhancements including the satellite-linked Acura Navigation System with Voice Activation™ and rearview camera (it recognizes over 600 voice commands!), AcuraLink®, AcuraLink® Real-Time Traffic, AcuraLink® Real-Time Weather, Traffic Rerouting™ and the Active Front Lighting System (AFS).
Then there is the top-of-the-line Acura RL CMBS/ACC Package. It includes the acclaimed Collision Mitigation Braking System™, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and genuine curly maple wood instrument panel trim.
Additional cool features include the three-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel’s easy-to-use system controls. The left and right spokes contain integrated buttons for audio and cruise control. Behind the left and right spokes are paddleshifters for the Sequential SportShift. At the five- and seven o’clock positions, you’ll find controls for the Multi-Information Display (MID), Bluetooth HandsFreeLink® and for models with the Acura Navigation System, Voice Recognition controls.
Acura consistently stays a step ahead of the digital music age, important to most of us today. Check out the standard USB connection for interfacing with a variety of digital audio players such as iPods and other USB mass storage devices that contain MP3, WMA or AAC music files. If you have a compatible iPod, your music selection can be controlled through the audio system. What’s even cooler, the USB will charge rather than deplete a compatible iPod while it’s playing. You can also plug in, select and play music from a flash drive or other USB storage device.
RL models with the Technology Package can run USB-sourced audio through Dolby® Pro Logic® II to create awesome surround-sound. Track and folder information appears on the center display to simplify music search and selection. Don’t worry – incompatible MP3 players can be plugged into the accompanying auxiliary input jack.
The antithesis of loud sound, the RL’s standard Active Noise Cancellation™ system (ANC) can reduce unwanted cabin noise by as much as 10dB, countering it with opposing sound frequencies from the audio system. It uses two microphones located in the ceiling to monitor for low-frequency noise in the cabin. When sound is detected, the ANC control unit passes an inverse waveform to the Bose amplifier where it is amplified to an inaudible volume that cancels the original sound.
Need we say more? The 2009 Acura RL is the smart choice for intelligent luxury driving.
