Lights, Camera, Action!
The silver screen is making for a red-hot summer.

Cool off by checking out some of this summer’s hottest movies. From your favorite storybook characters to action figures and creatures from outer space, there’s something for the whole family. Make tracks for some movie fun!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (July 15th)

Harry Potter returns for the sixth installment of the series based on the writings of J.K. Rowling. Hogwarts isn’t the safe haven it used to be, thanks to Voldemort tightening his grip on the Muggle and Wizarding worlds. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) thinks the danger is inside the castle, but Dumbledore wants to prepare him for the battle that is coming up. Together, they find the key to unlock Voldemort’s defenses with a little help from Dumbledore’s old friend, the unsuspecting Professor Horace Slughorn. Expect some romance, too: Harry develops a crush on Ginny (as does Dean Thomas). Lavender Brown sets her heart on Ron with a little competition along the way – in the form of Romilda Vane’s chocolates! While there’s love in the air, there’s tragedy, too, and Hogwarts may never be the same again. Visit www.harrypotter.warnerbros.com/harrypotterandthehalf-bloodprince/.

Aliens in the Attic (July 31st)

Okay, maybe this isn’t the summer vacation that the Pearson family envisioned, but we’re sure this one is quite memorable! After arriving at their vacation home in Maine, the Pearsons realize they aren’t the only people, err, visitors staying there. They discover a friendly alien. Unfortunately, his alien friends aren’t so nice, and they’re ready to invade the house! The Pearson kids (including High School Musical’s Ashley Tisdale) have to defend their vacation house or else the aliens will take them back to space and destroy the world. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (August 7th)

Put away the action figures and get ready for the real deal on film! Set 10 years in the future, the film depicts the rise of the Cobra Organization. You’ll also see how Duke (Channing Tatum) and Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) become a part of the G.I. Joe Team (that’s short for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity) as they work against the evil forces of Cobra. In addition to Tatum and Wayans, the movie features actors Dennis Quaid, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Sienna Miller. Visit www.gijoemovie.com.

Bandslam (August 14th)

Music and comedy together – there’s no better combination! The new kid in town, Will (Gaelan Connell), is asked by singer-songwriter Charlotte (Aly Michalka of the pop duo Aly and AJ) to manage her rock band with the hope of going head-to-head against her ex-boyfriend Ben and his band Glory Dogs (Springsteen wannabes) at the school’s battle of the bands. As the band starts to take off, romance brews between Will and Sa5m (Vanessa Hudgen) – and yes, the 5 is silent! – a guitar player and singer. Will the group be able to win battle of the bands and stand up for what they believe in, or will they have to accept defeat?  Visit www.bandslam-movie.com.

Sit back and enjoy the shows!
