Winter Wonderland Fun
Beat the boredom of being indoors with an outdoor adventure!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Thanks to its high elevation, Utah has some of the coldest temperatures in the West. With the cold temperatures comes the snow, and we know how to put it to good use! With 13 resorts to choose from, Utah is the ultimate winter destination for skiers and snowboarders. Put down that shovel because there is plenty to keep you and your family busy.

It’s time for you to experience some winter fun in Utah. Bundle up the kids, pack the sleds and skis and get ready for fun! Here are our picks of top activities and places to visit:

Some say it’s one of the state’s best kept secrets, and we’re going to share it with you! Beaver Mountain is known for its excellent runs, friendly atmosphere and low prices, making it a popular destination for the locals. Family-owned and operated since 1939, it’s the oldest continually owned family ski area in the U.S.! The mountain offers 30 runs on 664 acres for everyone from beginners to advanced. Beaver Mountain Resort is located at 40000 East Highway 89 in Garden City. For more information, call (435) 753-0921 or visit www.skithebeav.com.

This place was another Utah secret until it burst onto the world stage at the Olympic Winter Games in February 2002. Now, there’s no reason not to experience Snowbasin and its high alpine bowls, steep chutes, perfectly groomed slopes, deep-powder glades and two of the most challenging downhill racecourses. Imagine experiencing the Grizzly and Wildflower Downhill courses that your favorite riders competed on in the Olympics. Want more? The mountain has many terrain parks including Krazy Kat Terrain, Apex Park and the newest, Coyote Park. Be sure to check out the Superpipe – it’s 340 feet long and 14 feet high with a 19-degree slope. Want more excitement? Take an exhilarating ride on a snow tube. Snowbasin Resort is located at 3925 East Snowbasin Road in Huntsville. For more information, call (801) 620-1000 or visit www.snowbasin.com.

Discover a completely new world, and escape the chaos of the city. At Solitude Ski Resort, you’ll be miles and miles away from any and all distractions. Each year, Solitude has more than 500 inches of snow covering 1,200 acres and offers groomed runs for all ability levels. Practice your skills and tricks at the terrain park that features snow-based tabletops, a fun-box, hips and rollers. Nordic skiers and snowshoers can explore the Nordic Center, which offers an extensive trail system that takes you through the forests and mountains surrounding Silver Lake. Solitude Ski Resort is located in Big Cottonwood Canyon in Solitude. For more information, call (801) 534-1400 or visit www.skisolitude.com.

Whether it’s a bunny hill or a double-black diamond slope, there’s a trail just for you. Hit up any of the state’s mountains and ski resorts for guaranteed fun and excitement.

Enjoy the thrills and chills of winter in Utah!
