Vehicle Details: The 2011 BMW X3
A new X3, custom-built just for you.

The all-new 2011 BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) arrives in December and it can now be equipped exactly as you’d want it. A new, state-of-the-art ordering and production system enables you to tailor the new X3 to your exact specifications and take delivery more quickly than possible before.

You’ll see the slogan, “Dream it, build it, drive it,” attached to the new BMW X3, and there’s a powerful story behind it. First, there’s power in the sense of BMW’s legendary inline six-cylinder engines including a 240-hp X3 xDrive28i (MSRP $37,625) and a turbocharged 300-hp X3 xDrive35i. There’s also power in the performance of a new eight-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system, standard for both models.

The power of dreams, however, starts when you order a new X3 because now you can get exactly the model you want, faster than you thought possible.

Traditionally, carmakers offered two ways to deliver a vehicle to you. Dealers generally order models with popular colors and options for their inventory, and the customer chooses one that comes closest to his or her wants. In that way, the customer can usually take delivery quickly. If you wanted to custom-order a vehicle, you might have faced a long wait, perhaps months, without the possibility of changing your mind once the order was accepted. BMW is changing that with the new X3.

BMW designed an optimized production process to build the new X3 at its Spartanburg, South Carolina facility. This flexible system, with “just in time” parts management, allows BMW customers to choose exactly the options, color and trim they want, and still get the vehicle in a matter of weeks. What’s more, you’ll be able to make changes to your order until just six days before BMW starts building it. That kind of flexibility is simply unprecedented in the auto industry. Once production begins, you will receive a video of your X3 coming down the assembly line.

BMW’s new ordering and production system for the 2011 X3 opens up a whole new world of personalization. In fact, some colors, including Sparkling Bronze Metallic, Blue Water Metallic and Vermillion Red Metallic, are available only through the custom-order process. BMW dealers will still be able to order X3’s for inventory, but the full range of colors, trim and options is reserved for individual customer orders. Fine leather selections available only for custom orders include Nevada Mojave and Nevada Chestnut.

Perhaps, in the past, you had your heart set on a particular color and leather combination, but were disappointed that the dealer did not have it in stock. With the new 2011 X3, the power to get the combination you want rests in your hands. That’s putting the “custom” back in “customer.”

Your custom-ordered 2011 BMW X3 builds on the strengths of the first-generation model, and now offers even better performance and agility, along with better fuel efficiency. New standard equipment includes Bluetooth® connectivity, an iPod/USB interface, anti-theft alarm system and, on the X3 xDrive35i, standard xenon adaptive headlights. For greater interior versatility, the rear seat can fold in three sections, not just two.

An available rearview camera with Top View enhances visibility and, for the first time, you’ll be able to get a head-up display as an option. By projecting certain vehicle information onto a section of the windshield, the head-up display helps you keep your eyes on the road.

The 2011 X3 offers a range of new BMW ConnectedDrive technologies to help you stay in touch while also helping to reduce distraction. The most comprehensive integration for the latest Blackberry® smartphone devices will make it possible to read e-mails from the navigation screen while the vehicle is parked. Innovative text-to-speech technology can read e-mails to you while you’re driving.

Of course, the X3 is a BMW first and foremost, and that means it must uphold the promise behind The Ultimate Driving Machine®. The new available Dynamic Handling Package takes agility for a BMW Sports Activity Vehicle to an even higher level than in the previous X3. At the same time, the new 2011 X3 offers greater refinement.

The 2011 BMW X3, in addition to all the luxury and performance you’d expect in a BMW, now offers the luxury of getting exactly the vehicle you want, and not having to wait more than a few weeks to get it. Come in today and just “dream it.”
