With great success surrounding the arrival of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, it is no surprise the automaker is planning the release of yet another electric vehicle (EV). Keffer Mitsubishi is pleased to announce the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid EV. Mitsubishi’s second electric vehicle will make its first appearance at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
The Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid EV may be considered a trailblazer in its own right. It is considered the first mainstream car from a major manufacturer with built-in provisions for either Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) or Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PIEV) powertrains. Another first…the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid EV will be the first permanent 4WD electric car in series production.
Drivers will have the ability to choose between three driving modes: pure (Twin Motor 4WD EV), series (Twin Motor 4WD- EV supported by generator), and Parallel (ICE engine supported by Twin Motor 4WD).
Long haul range and driving emissions are estimated at 800 km and a CO2 target below 50g/km.
Drivers can expect to see the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid EV to arrive in Western and Eastern Europe this fall, with it arriving to the United States shortly after.
