BMW Approved High-Performance Tires
Only the best performance tires can boast BMW Approved status.

High-performance machines require high-performance tires to reach their full potential. This simple relationship has caused BMW to partner with some of the top names in the automotive industry in order to shoe its automobiles with BMW Approved performance tires, high-end equipment that can do justice to the extreme capabilities of the German car company’s lineup of powerful vehicles.

Some of the most advanced rubber to be wrapped around BMW rims is manufactured by Michelin. The Pilot Super Sport series of tires was developed in partnership with BMW, and is stock equipment on several of the company’s M sportscars. All BMW Approved tires are designed and built to exacting BMW standards, and are specifically matched to individual BMW models. Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires start with the design, research and development (bi-compound tread band and Variable Contact Patch 2.0) that have made Michelin the brand of choice for competitors at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Another top candidate from the list of BMW Approved performance tires is the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A. This particular maximum performance summer tire also features run-flat capability, and is stock equipment on vehicles like the BMW 335i with M Package. The Potenza RE050A’s asymmetric tread design and continuous center rib help grip the road when it’s dry and channel water safely away to the edges of the rubber when driving through a rainstorm.

Two other extreme summer performance tires enjoy BMW Approved status. One is Michelin’s Pilot Sport PS2. Another is the Pirelli PZero, a tire that offers the high-grip rubber compound and resistance to deformation that is required to deliver the utmost in handling and braking capability.

All BMW Approved tires can be recognized by the raised star on the tire sidewall. They must meet important standards across four primary categories. The tires must offer superior driving dynamics, unmatched safety, comfort at the level befitting a BMW luxury vehicle and economy. These four requirements are further broken down into factors like Dry Handling, Directional Stability/Grooves, Hydroplaning, Roll Resistance and Weight.

BMW Approved high-performance tires are available at BMW dealerships across the country. Your BMW dealer’s expertise assures you your car will have the right tires for its specific driving characteristics. The peace of mind that comes with selecting BMW Approved tires cannot be overestimated – especially when piloting your car at its limits.
