The Maui Electric Vehicle Alliance (Maui EVA) is a consortium of educational, governmental, and private entities working to establish the necessary infrastructure to support electric vehicle use on the island. The University of Hawai'i Maui College is coordinating with state and local departments as well as businesses to coordinate a plan to integrate EV's into the overall transportation grid.
Jim Falk Motors of Maui is currently offering two different models of electric vehicles including the Chevy Volt which just arrived this month and the Nissan Leaf which has been selling briskly on Maui over the past year.
Maui is an ideal location for EV use due to the short commute distances. The Maui EVA will be working to insure that charging stations are properly located throughout the island to support this new technology as well as to educate the public regarding the benefits of integrating EV's into our transportation mix.
