Just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Imaginis.com announces a new look and upgrades to its Web site, Imaginis.com, as the company approaches its first decade as an online women's health resource. Initially developed as a consumer resource in 1999, Imaginis.com, also gained the respect and support from the medical community as it expanded its content and focus on women's health topics beyond cancer. Today, Imaginis.com is a leader as a credible online source that presents complex medical information in easy-to-understand language.

Liv and Imaginis Team Up

Imaginis is teaming up with Grammy award-winning artist and breast cancer “thriver” Olivia Newton-John’s Web site, liv.com. The goal is to empower women to take an active approach to breast health. Lending his support, Dr. Ernie Bodai, breast cancer surgeon and creator of the Breast Cancer stamp, says, “Early detection is the key to good health.” Dr. Bodai recommends that his patients use Imaginis.com because it is an empowering one-stop resource for breast cancer information, from detection through treatment. OCTOBER IS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an opportunity for women to remember to practice good breast health throughout the year. While more than 182,000 women are diagnosed with invasive breast cancer annually, research has shown that the earlier the disease is detected, the greater the chances for successful treatment and survival. Imaginis is proud to serve as an award-winning, comprehensive resource for information on all aspects of breast health and related women’s health topics. Visit www.imaginis.com to learn how breast cancer can be detected early.
National Mammography Day is October 17
http://www.imaginis.com/breasthealth/news/news9.29...

Friday, October 17, 2008, has been designated National Mammography Day in the United States. Women are encouraged to use this day as a reminder to make an appointment to get a mammogram. Mammography, an x-ray examination of the breasts, is considered by experts at the "gold standard" in breast cancer detection. Mammography can help detect breast cancer years before a lump can be felt by physical touch.

New Test Approved to Determine Whether Breast Cancer Patients Would Benefit from Certain Treatment
http://www.imaginis.com/breasthealth/news/news8.25...

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved a new genetic test for determining whether patients with breast cancer are good candidates for treatment with the drug Herceptin. Herceptin has been shown to be effective in helping treat breast cancer but it only works in patients with certain types of breast cancers-called HER2/neu positive breast cancer. The new test, called the SPOT-Light HER2 CISH kit, may be more convenient than the two other FDA-approved tests, the fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), because it can be performed with a standard microscope, which allows more medical facilities to perform the test. The new test can also allow laboratories to store a patient's tissue for future reference.

Preventing Falls and Associated Hip Fractures
http://www.imaginis.com/osteoporosis/preventing_fa...

It is estimated that one in three older adults falls each year. Approximately 340,000 hip fractures occur each year, and 50% of all older adults who are hospitalized for hip fractures are not able to return home or live independently after a hip fracture. Risk factors for falls include increasing age, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, functional limitations, among others. This article discusses how falls and associated hip fractures can be prevented.
