BISPHOSPONATE DRUGS HELPFUL IN BREAST CANCER PATIENTS WHOSE CANCER HAS SPREAD TO THE BONE
http://www.imaginis.com/breasthealth/new...
A review of 30 studies finds that a class of drugs called
bisphosphonates is beneficial in breast cancer patients whose cancer has spread to the bone. Bone is one of the most common sites to which breast cancer can metastasize, or spread. The study finds that bisphosponates can reduce complications in breast cancer patients whose cancer has affected the bone. Therefore, the researchers conclude that these drugs should be considered as soon as breast cancer has spread to the bone to maximize the benefit of treatment.

TAMOXIFEN EFFECTIVE IN OBESE AND LEAN WOMEN
http://www.imaginis.com/breasthealth/new...
Contrary to the belief that the breast cancer drug tamoxifen may not be as effective in obese women, a new study finds that the drug works equally well in obese and lean women. The research shows that tamoxifen reduces the risk of a recurrence of breast cancer as well as death from the disease in early-stage breast cancer patients of all weights. However, there were some negative effects of obesity seen in the study, including a higher risk of developing cancer in the opposite breast as well as in other areas of the body. Women who are overweight or obese are encouraged to lose weight to enjoy a variety of health benefits.

BREAST CANCER DRUG, FEMARA, DRAMATICALLY IMPROVES SURVIVAL ODDS WHEN TAKEN AFTER TAMOXFEN
http://www.imaginis.com/breasthealth/new...
A landmark study finds that the drug Femara (generic name, letrozole) significantly improves the chances of breast cancer survival when taken after five years of treatment with the drug tamoxifen (brand name, Nolvadex). The research-which was halted early to allow women in the study who were taking a placebo, or inactive pill, to reap the benefits of Femara-found that taking Femara after tamoxifen reduced the risk of a recurrence and death from breast cancer by nearly one half. The U.S. National Cancer Institute is encouraging breast cancer patients to discuss the possibility of taking Femara after five years of treatment with tamoxifen.
