Austin Jewish Coalition Against DV to Present Workshop on Relationship Abuse
by Diane Radin

The Austin Jewish Coaltion Against Domestic Violence has invited rabbis, cantors, religious school and day school directors, professionals from the Jewish Community Association of Austin (a combination of Federation, JCC, JFS), and lay leaders to a three-hour workshop on relationship abuse, to be held at the JCC on October 19, 2004.

The keynote speaker will be Toby Myers from Houston--an abuse survivor, speaker, expert witness, and one of the founders of the Texas Council on Family Violence. She also serves on the board of National Center on Doemstic and Sexual Violence. Other presenters will include the JFS director, a representative from SafePlace and a member of the Austin Police Department's Victim Services who has counseled Jewish women. Vignettes are being sought from the clergy and survivors to use as catalysts for discussion.
