JCRC Lends a Helping Hand with “MANO”
Jewish community workshops teach“best practices” to non-profits

JCRC, along with the Maryland Association of Non-Profit Organizations ("MANO"), is offering 4 free workshops on non-profit management to over 600 groups throughout Montgomery County.
“By strengthening the County's nonprofit organizations,” says Executive Director Ron Halber, “we can do more to enhance services to vulnerable communities, keep the County among the best in the nation at serving the needs of a diverse population and promote greater public-private partnerships.” In addition to training, the forums provide an opportunity for county leaders and nonprofit directors to discuss the needs of the nonprofit community. |
Bruce Adams, Director of the County’s Office on Community Outreach; Valerie Ervin, Councilmember from District 5; and Luann Korona, Director of the County’s Community Development Division at the Department of Housing and Community Affairs, were all in attendance at the first workshop to welcome participants and encourage their partnership with the County.
Council Member Michael Knapp encouraged participants to partner with local government and Julie Maltzman, Deputy Director for Programs for Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless provided insight on the August topic of Program Development and Evaluation.
Sessions in the fall will address financial literacy (Sept 18), and marketing (Oct. 16). In addition, Maryland Nonprofits has scheduled a fifth workshop on fundraising to take place on Nov. 13. Pre-registration is required, for more information contact JCRC, Rabbi Sarah Meytin at smeytin@jcouncil.org
