Making the Case for AIM
Comparing the Accelerating Implementation Methodology to Other Change Models

Clients often ask us to compare the Accelerating Implementation Methodology (AIM) to other change models. In an effort to respond to this request, we have developed a summary of AIM benefits that can serve as a comparative checklist. If you are shopping for models, this will be a useful guide. The summary can also be used in conversations with Leaders and Sponsors on what AIM offers, and why it drives financial benefits to the organization. At the end of the day, we encourage all of our clients to compare, but to select one model. There is great value in having a common framework and language across the enterprise.

  1.  AIM is operational versus conceptual
AIM is focused specifically on the “how to’s” rather than just being theoretical or conceptual. The operational focus enables people at all levels and in all roles to quickly grasp how application of AIM can immediately impact what they are doing, and how they are doing it. AIM translates principles into action, thereby driving acceleration.

  1.  AIM speaks the language of business
AIM is a financial model that translates the human side of project execution into business terms. One of the major benefits of AIM is that it brings the same level of business discipline and rigor to the human aspects of projects as is typically found on the financial and operation side. With its powerful diagnostic tools, AIM is data-based.

  1.  AIM is flexible and can be applied to initiatives of any type, size, and complexity
AIM is principle-based, meaning that the steps are not rigidly applied in a prescriptive or simplistic checklist manner. This reflects the fact that the complexity of change requires a model with enormous flexibility in order to be useful. At the same time, AIM is completely scalable, so that the principles can be followed no matter how small or large the initiative.

  1.  AIM is robust
The combination of action learning, consulting, working tools, and diagnostics combine to provide clients with a highly robust integrated methodology for driving AIM across the enterprise as a common language and framework. This promotes both efficiency and acceleration.

  1.  AIM integrates with any project management methodology
AIM is not intended to be a stand-alone model, separate from the other aspects of project management. Instead, AIM works best when the steps are “unbundled” and integrated into one seamless implementation plan that is easily managed.

  1.  AIM is not external consultant dependent
Once AIM principles, language, and tools are learned and deployed, organizations can become self-sufficient. Services and processes are designed to reinforce independence, with the option of building capability at the Awareness, Practitioner, or Mastery levels, depending on organizational need.

  1.  AIM is proven to work
AIM has been applied to a widely-diverse set of projects and strategy initiatives, across countless cultures, and in virtually every type of industry. With nearly two decades of application, its financial benefits have been proven to drive acceleration and Return on Investment.

We would be pleased to provide you and your colleagues with an individual tutorial on the steps of the methodology via a web meeting, scheduled at your convenience. Contact Paula Alsher, Vice President, Client Solutions at 866-996-7788 or by email at paula.alsher@imaworldwide.com for more information.
