Merton E. Marks, commercial arbitrator and mediator, will speak on U.S. arbitration and mediation law and practice to Chinese arbitrators, lawyers and law faculty on October 27, 2007
at Peking University Law School in Beijing.
Mert was also the luncheon speaker at a meeting of the American Conference Institute on May 3, 2007 in San Francisco on the use of international arbitration to resolve business and investment disputes between Chinese and U.S. business entities.
Both presentations focus on the use of arbitration and mediation as an alternative to lengthy and expensive litigation in Chinese and U.S. courts arising out of business disputes between U.S and Chinese business entities.
Mert is an arbitrator on the International Panel of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of London and frequently serves as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association on its Commercial, Reinsurance and Large
Complex Case Panels. He is also an arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers and The Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society (ARIAS‐US). He has offices in Scottsdale and Tucson, Arizona and Dana Point, California.
