A Celebration of the ILN's Founding Members
May 10, 2006 - Copenhagen, Denmark
by Mr. Robert Bijloos

Eighteen and eighty eight, two numbers highly significant, each marking an important step stone in live. ILN was founded some 18 years ago in London, while its founding father is now 88 years old. Eighteen years is, in most countries, the age at which one is considered to be adult and is getting the right to vote, while the double 8 digit is considered by the Chinese as the lucky number.

Founding members from England, France, the USA and Denmark, traveled to the marvelous city of Copenhagen, to celebrate these two events. Sid and Bunny, Lowell and Betsy, Peter and Jacky, Kield-Gustav and Rita and Robert and Adrienne gathered together for a festive dinner on 10 May 2006 with Per Kønig, Lise and his granddaughter Agneth.

The dinner took place at the same restaurant where, in 1995, ILN had its closing dinner at the occasion of the annual meeting in Copenhagen. Needless to say that a lot of stories were told about events of the last eighteen years. Sweet memories came back and most of the time people could hardly eat because of laughing.

Looking at Per eating his favorite lobster while sitting next to Lise, I was wondering if it was Lise or the lobster who kept him still young and in so good shape.

This dinner was the best proof of friendship, build up over the years, between people who believed one day in the existence of a network of people from different countries, of different religions and races, working together in the same profession on the base of mutual trust. and loyalty.

ILN came to age thanks to people like Per, his successor, Lowell, its administrator, but also thanks to all its active members, who believe in the same idea as its founding members.

The dinner was closed with a toast to a long life for ILN and a triple 8 for Per.
