BULLETIN!!! BULLETIN!!! BULLETIN!!!
JULY is SENIOR MONTH at IGCA!!
Sweeeeet Caroline! We're so happy to announce that JULY is SENIOR MONTH at IGCA!!  From July 1 - 31, 2009, Senior dogs are $125.  Most of our more mature dogs end up staying in their foster homes so long, it feels like their home.  Then they are adopted and have to start over.  We are hoping that this will become an annual event with HUGE success!  Adoption paperwork must be signed and dog officially paid for and adopted by July 31st.  There will be a 7 day grace period in TX and OK as long as you have met the dog once prior to July 31.

Pepper!!If you have never had a senior IG in your home, you don't know what you're missing!  Many IGs are still VERY playful at 9- and 10-years-old and can live to be anywhere from 15-21 years old, depending on their level of activity and diet.  They bring such a warm, wise energy to your pack and you might be surprised at who chooses them as their best friend!  IGCA Rescue has personally experienced everything from a 17-yr-old human boy becoming caretaker to a deaf, blind, 14-yr-old redheaded iggy girl to another IGCA Alumni who, at age 10 and partially deaf, has brought her 3-yr-old damaged iggy brother - more than twice her size -  out of his shell and accepting kisses from people he knows!

Please see our senior dogs below for Oklahoma and Texas, followed by a senior from Louisiana.

If you don't see a dog pictured from your state, please visit www.italiangreyhound.org and click on your state's website!.  Texas and Oklahoma do not adopt outside of neighboring states.

Brinkley
Dallas/Ft. Worth

Brinkley is a sweet 10-yr-old that we are getting to re-know.  This blue pied boy was adopted from us as a mill dog 9 years ago but the family dynamic has changed so he is  back.  He would really like an accepting forever home to live out another lot of years!  He's a toothless boy so he will save you lots on dentals!

Joey
San Antonio

Joey is a nine year old, eleven pound, blue and white neutered Iggy.  His coat is nice and soft, if you can get close enough to pet him.  He suffered from no vet or real owner care.  He is dying to be loved but is scared someone is going to hurt him.  He'll only come up for the treat with urging and then fast as a wink back to the safety of his bed.  Joey is house trained and I don't think he has had an accident in the house in spite of the wet weather recently.  He is a day and night sleeper.

Sadie
OKC Area

Sadie is a lovely red lady with a snaggle toothed smile! She is doing great in foster care. At about 12 years old, she still gets playful now and then. She is house broken, not one accident. She is kenneled most nights, she has started worming her way under the covers and falling asleep. She is so good you forget she is there! She is well trained in snuggling, too. She is very loyal and will sit beside her foster Mom as she works on the computer. She loves going for walks. She has put on a good pound or so and is looking healthy again. She will make someone a PERFECT companion!

Rocco
Houston

Hi, my name is Rocco (actually everyone calls me Hermie and that is what I answer to.)  My foster mom warned me that I would probably have several nicknames as her other “boys” have about 6 nicknames each!  My foster dad calls me “Sticks” because my legs are so incredibly long!  I am a very tall boy!  I was found wandering the streets but am very happy to have a nice place to stay.  I am somewhere between 8 and 10 years old.

The vet that first checked me out said I was healthy except for my mouth.  Unfortunately, my previous owners never took care of my teeth.  They had to pull 22 of my teeth on my dental cleaning – but never once did I complain!  I took all of my medications like a good boy and have enjoyed the soft food I am being spoiled with.  I have a funny little mouth now as I only have my bottom canines in the front and they poke out over my top lip.  It gives me character my foster mom says.  (My web pictures were before my teeth were taken out).  None of this has curbed my appetite one bit!

Jax
Louisiana

Jax, 12 year old fawn, male Italian Greyhound.  He is a sweet old man.  He is considered special needs because of his age.  Jax needs a relaxed home who will provide him with ample love for the last few years of his life.  He is crate trained, potty trained, and leash trained.  Jax would prefer to share your bed or couch.  Jax came to us with hemangiomas on his body.  He had surgery to remove them and is doing well!  To find out more about our handsome, Southern gentleman, email catherineodom@me.com!
