A Poem for the Grieving
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die...

Kerbey
Kerbey crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in November, 2008, while sleeping. Though her passing was sudden, unexpected and hard to accept, we focus on what she brought to our family and the love she shared with us. She touched the lives of so many – her foster family before us and many in the DFW IGCA Rescue. At a recent “Meet and Greet” she was welcomed as if she were a Rock Star by her foster brothers and sisters and previous caretakers. She was only in her adopted home for six weeks but will remain in the family’s hearts forever.

Finnegan
Finnegan was a precious, 11-mo-old boy who was surrendered when his owner couldn't afford to fix his broken leg. This sweet little 10-pounder was not able to survive the extensive suregery required to repair his leg. Finnegan touched many on his path through Rescue and his foster parents' hearts will be forever blessed by having known him.
We'll see you at the Bridge, sweet Finnegan.

*IGCA Rescue Alumni* Princess Sammy
My name is Miss Sammy. I was purchased by my first family from a BYB in Arizona, and I lived with them quite happily until I was four years old. Then they decided to move into a house where they could only have one dog, and they chose my Maltese sister, PJ, over me. I was sad and scared but a wonderful woman named Jennifer came and got me for Rescue. A few months later, I went to live with my new parents in Oceanside, California, right on the beach. I loved my life there. Every morning my mom and dad would get up and take me and my Greyt brother, Johnny, for long walks on the beach before they went to work. We walked on the beach every night, too. I was always the Princess of the house.

Cooper
I am Cooper, Coop to my family. I am writing this to tell my story of how I lived my last 6 days. I came from a shelter in Arkansas where I lived in a metal crate for over 3 months with nothing but newspaper for a bed. A very pretty angel from IGCA Rescue came to take me out of there and to my new home in Oklahoma where I met my new mom Sharon and the Furkids—Kame, Banner, Baylee (all Border Collies) and the most beautiful princess named Trudi. Trudi is an Italian Greyhound that is living with Mom Sharon and the Furkids until she finds a forever home.

Gypsy
Gypsy's time on this earth was much too short. She came into IGCA Rescue at only 4 months old, after being mauled by a dog and losing part of her leg. Unfortunately, within a few days, Gypsy succumbed to more serious internal injuries and passed quickly.
We chose this picture because, even with all she had suffered, she was still an iggy puppy who could never resist chewing on a finger. ;)
I'll meet you at the Bridge, Sweet Gyspy. I never got to see you run so I can't wait to watch! :)
Love,
Foster Mom Kari

Mickey
Mickey came into IGCA Rescue after going from living outside, to being left to fend for himself, in rural Oklahoma. Mickey had several benefactors along the way who were blessed to know him. Mickey was heartworm positive and had never received shots. While waiting for his scheduled heartworm treatment, Mickey passed away very peacefully in his sleep. There was no sign of distress but, also, no known reason. It is always hard to get closure when there are unanswered questions, but we couldn't have asked for him to have an easier passing so there must be a blessing in there somewhere.

Libby
Our sweet Libby crossed the Rainbow Bridge March 2008 after losing her battle with heartworms. Her Foster Mom was devastated by her passing. Despite providing round-the-clock care, Libby couldn't be saved. This part of Rescue is never easy. But Libby will never be forgotten and is frolicking with her other iggies, waiting on their People.

Sampson

Emerson
Our sweet Emerson crossed the Rainbow Bridge April 2008 after succumbing to his heartworms. His Foster Mom provided him an enormous amount of love and care and is very saddened by his passing. This part of Rescue is never easy. But Emey's pawprint will always be on our hearts.
