Available Boys
Checotah
Austin

Checotah is a very sweet 3-year-old boy who came into a local shelter as a stray.  This blue and white boy is an absolute doll and is having a great time with his foster sister iggy.  However, he is very afraid of the family cats.  He would love it if his new home didn't have any!  Nice children are quite welcome, though, especially if they like to nap with an iggy!

Pie
Lumberton

Pie is a very sweet, loving Biggy Iggy; 15 lbs and about 17" at shoulder.  He is a beautiful red fawn and white boy, estimated to be between 5-8 years old (I am working on narrowing this down-have question in w/vet.)  Pie is unfortunately heart worm positive, and therefore, will not be ready for adoption for several months.  Pie is crate trained and is, at times, very vocal in his crate.  He likes to howl and even 'honk' for short bursts.  This is quite cute and makes him very unique, but maybe not best for apartment dwellers!  He loves to snuggle under the covers, although he does sleep in his crate.

Pavarotti
Dallas/Ft. Worth

Handsome, single male in prime of life seeking family needing plenty of doggy love…

Pavarotti is a handsome, fun-loving but gentle soul.  He enjoys food, walks, food, romps with his doggy friends, food, car rides and food.  Did you pick up on a recurring theme.  Pavi has a bit of a weight problem.  He has lost 5 lbs. in foster care but needs to lose 7-9 lbs. more.  His large bulk hasn’t made him shy about finding the best seat in the house – YOUR LAP!!!   This dog is a diamond in the rough.

Joey
Houston

Wait, wait! Don’t skip my bio.  I’ve got an update! I am doing great.  I like the good life in my foster home.  I am a “good-natured sweetheart,” as my foster mom calls me, who wants a chance to be someone’s special boy.  She says at 9 years-old I am a distinguished gentleman, but I am not so distinguished that I would miss a chance to frolic with my foster sister.   (Hey don’t blame me, she started it!)

My foster family was so worried that I’d be heartbroken without my sister Lily when she found her forever home, and yeah, I missed her at first, but my foster sister licks my ears, and I am just happy Lily is finally getting all the loving she deserves.  My foster mom says I’ve even become more affectionate since Lily left, kind of gave me the extra push to reach out more to the humans in my home.

Felix
Austin

Felix came into IGCA Rescue weighing 24 pounds and has made it down to 19 so far!  He's happier and definitely healthier, and will make someone a terrific companion!  This red fawn and white boy is about 4 years old and is becoming a wonderful companion.  We can handle his feet and his ears. He knows sit, down, off, roll over, and we are working on wait and stay. He is a great Obedience candidate!

He's terrific with the foster's outdoor cat, free range rabbit, and dogs of equal size. Larger dogs take getting used to, but he is coming around.  Felix will potty outside, but we would not call him housebroken. We know when he needs to go and sometimes it takes coaxing to get him to ahead and go while he's out. Otherwise, he'll hold it until he comes back in. He does not mark or pee inside. He loves being outside with his people!

Taylor
New Caney

Meet Taylor.  He's a big, sturdy, handsome, mature adult, mostly seal with just enough white markings to highlight his strong neck and shoulders.  This fellow loves the ladies!  As for men, he's most comfortable with those who are gentle and patient.  (Please, he's too refined for rough-housing.)  Taylor enjoys his four legged friends, too. Taylor is in excellent health -- no heartworms, and he's had a thorough veterinary examination and vaccinations.  He will have his final dental care in September, and then will be ready to nestle in to his new Forever Home.

Newton
Dallas/Ft. Worth

Newton is a 13-pound bundle of energy!  At 1-yr-old, he is a typical iggy pup.  Make sure you know what you're getting yourself into!  We have lots of free info at www.italiangreyhound.org.

Newton is crate-, leash- and house-trained.  He is fully vetted and ready for his new home!  He is social, handsome and very smart.  He would love to go into obedience class so that he can continue to learn good manners and show off at the same time!

Kennedy
Dallas/Ft. Worth

Kennedy began his life in September of '08.
He is a sweet, loving, playful little boy with endless energy. He loves to snuggle and play with his foster brother and his foster sisters. He can be a bit pushy at times, but it’s all in the name of typical iggy puppy fun!  Kennedy’s outgoing personality has helped his mother, Malibu, begin to come out of her shell more and more every day. He has won the heart of every creature in his foster home!

Greg
Austin

Greg is a 10-yr-old blue & white male. He is good around other dogs, no aggression at all. He is a little leary of people but he is learning to like doggie massages. We are working on house training and walking on the leash. Humans have to be careful about leaving food on the coffee table, cause he will eat it. His foster mom found this out the hard way! He is learning about toys but don't blame him if a sock or slipper is not where you left it, they can look like toys too! He loves being outside and laying in the grass.

Brinkley
Dallas/Ft. Worth

Brinkley is a sweet 10-yr-old that we are getting to re-know.  This blue pied boy was adopted from us as a mill dog 9 years ago but the family dynamic has changed so he is  back.  He would really like an accepting forever home to live out another lot of years!  He's a toothless boy so he will save you lots on dentals!

We will write more as we get to know him better!

Grayson
Dallas/Ft. Worth

Hi – my name is Grayson and I am a handsome blue Irish boy. I live with Reno, my Iggy foster brother, in Allen. In the week I have been with Reno, his 2 cats and his humans, I have come a LONG way.

I was really scared when I got here – I had been bounced about a bit since I was found wandering around. The people who had me didnt understand me, even though I tried so hard to be good a good iggy.  And I didn’t really understand humans and how they really want to pet you and love you back.  Heck, I didn’t even know what a BONKIE was! But now – WOW! I could get used to this being spoiled stuff! It rocks! And since I have been loved and told what a good boy I am since I got here, my attitude is changing. I’ll lay cross your lap when you watch tv, I will cuddle at your feet if you take a nap, I have learned being given kisses isn’t a bad thing – not real used to it tho and I don’t give kisses back yet but one day I will surprise you. And playing ‘chase the kitty’ with little Adair is great fun, well, until she hops on a table and stops the game abruptly.

Chicago & Fargo
Dallas / Ft. Worth

Fargo
Fargo and Chicago are brothers.  They were born in a puppy mill and separated for almost a year, but as soon as Chicago came here, they bonded again right away.  They can not be separated again!

Fargo is a wonderful, loving little boy.  This young, fawn boy has to have at least one dog in the house to play with, but more is perfectly ok.  He is being fostered with iggies and a min pin.  He is very shy, and it takes a little longer to get to know him, but once you do, you'll be glad you waited.   He loves dogs a lot more than their humans, though.  When he is told he is a Happy Boy and that he is Gorgeous, he gets very excited and will wag his tail for you, or even jump up on the couch next to you!

Fargo has had it tough.  After many months, he is almost the perfect dog.  Fargo is a dog's dog.  He loves to play with the other dogs and with toys and run around.  He sleeps in, and doesn't like to be disturbed when he is asleep.  He's a very happy boy that knows exactly how gorgeous he really is!  He can get along with almost any dog, but doesn't like children of any age at all.   He really enjoys life, and will be a perfect dog for anyone that doesn't have children.

ChicagoChicago has had a very, very rough life.  When he came to us, he would go potty all over the place if you went anywhere near him.  He wouldn't take treats (even if you threw it to him).  All he did was lay by himself and shake all the time.  It took us moving with all the dogs for him to finally start coming out of his shell.  Not because of the house or even us too much, but because he finally figured out that he was part of a pack.  He is now taking treats out of my hand, running around, playing with the other dogs (he doesn't understand toys yet), wagging his tail, and even barked and growled once.  He doesn't really trust men too much, but he has gone to his fo

Bobo
Austin

Bobo is a very friendly 2-yr-old blue Irish boy who was unceremoniously dumped in the overnight drop of an Austin shelter.  He was underweight and heartworm positive.  His treatment and vetting will take awhile so he probably won't be available until June.

Luckily, no matter what came before his thoughtless dumping, Bobo knows his new life is going to be bigger and better!  He is a prize!

[FULL STORY]

Enzo
Dallas/Ft. Worth

Enzo is a very handsome 2-year-old iggy.  This fawn boy was an owner surrender in Oklahoma so he's logged some miles!  He is very laid back and loves to snuggle up in blankets if you have one lying on the couch for him. He has the most beautiful eyes that will just melt your heart when he looks at you. Everyone that comes to visit always mentions those eyes! He is perfect on a leash and walks right beside you, looking up to you every few seconds for some words of encouragement. He is crate trained and housebroken. Enzo is not into toys but, loves to gnaw on bones. He doesn't mind cats and other dogs that are his size but, big dogs beware!!! He is not a fan of his foster brothers that are bigger than him (a bloodhound and a great dane). Enzo is a very nervous dog who will definetly need some time to adjust in a new home. He would do best in a quiet home with someone who would be patient and willing to work with a nervous dog.

Dino
Dallas / Ft. Worth

Dino is an extremely sweet blue and white, 5-yr-old male. From the first night in his foster home, he has gotten along well with his foster brothers. He has always followed his foster Mom from room to room and is eager to curl up next to me on the sofa. He is somewhat skittish and does not like fast movements (he runs the other direction). He prefers to approach while you are sitting rather than standing, and favors women over men.
