A major manufacturer of injection molded plastic container products needed a new product identification system for their production facility. The system would be required to apply two unique labels, one decorative primary label and a smaller secondary label containing the UPC bar code information.

The new production line employs a process which runs the product through the injection mold sequence, then moves the product to a conveyor via a robotic application. The labeling system is positioned on the conveyor where the labels are applied to the product.

Following a meeting with the customer’s packaging engineering and facilities teams, the specialists at IDT recommended a system comprised of four ST1100 tamp blow systems to apply the larger decorative label onto a slightly recessed tub and four IDT 150 label applicators to apply the 1.5” X 1.5” secondary label containing the UPC code.
