A national manufacturer of composite lumber products used for decking, was looking for a coding system that would withstand the rigors of their harsh production environment.

The customer's production facility is an extremely dusty environment with temperatures in excess of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Add to that a production line that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and you have the need for a robust marking system.

The customer’s manufacturing system generates composite lumber boards which are fed onto a conveyor, where a lot code, date code and company information is applied in a step and repeat process in three-foot increments.

The customer called on the Specialists at ID Technology to help them find the right solution. Following a meeting with the customer’s team and a site visit, the IDT team went to work on a solution. IDT recommended the customer upgrade to an IDT F1010 Laser Marking System. The system features a rugged design to stand up to the rigors of harsh production environments and the flexibility to fix the laser head in many positions. Not to mention the F1010 laser delivers a high quality mark at high speeds. The new system not only meets the customer's production requirements, but as an added bonus, allows the customer to accurately track their 30 year warranty program for the first time in the company's history.

Due to the success of this installation, the customer has since ordered six more IDT F1010 Lasers and one IDT K1010 Laser that are in operation today.
