“Other” Dominates PC Vendors
by Linda Ferentchak

E-Week reports that the biggest PC vendor around continues to be “Other,” with a 53.3% market share. Second place is held by Dell at 16.9%. The reason for the dominance of “other” according to E-Week Editor in Chief Eric Lundquist is innovation. Smaller, nimbler vendors are often quicker to adopt new technologies and configurations and more willing to adapt products to customer needs, often leading to better systems.

Upgrades at Masco/Delta Faucet

In October, Hybinette Inc. installed a major server upgrade at Masco/Delta Faucet’s packaging facility in Philadelphia. This February, we added 2.92 terabytes of RAID storage to the firm’s system. The facility handles design and prepress for packaging and marketing materials for Delta’s wide product line.

Delta Faucet Company, celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2004, is a division of Masco Corporation and is the largest manufacturer of residential and commercial faucets in the world. The company manufactures the Delta, Delta Select and Peerless faucet brands and holds the number one market share position in the United States. We are pleased to also count them among Hybinette’s longest-standing customers.

Microsoft Code Theft Emphasizes Importance of Upgrade Patches
by Linda Ferentchak

In early February, parts of Windows NT and 2000 code were leaked to the Internet, spurring a flurry of security warnings. Security consultants estimate more than 50,000 code files were leaked, which will make vulnerabilities in Windows NT and Windows 2000 much easier to discover and exploit. Earlier in February Microsoft released a cumulative patch covering a dangerous Internet Explorer vulnerability that let attackers trick customers into visiting malicious sites.
