Opix Media City Enterprise Edition Available Now

Opix AG, designer, optimizer and seller of highly-functional database software for networks, has announced its release the Enterprise Edition of the Opix Media City digital asset management system in October 2002.

The Media City digital asset management system features a number of improvements over its predecessor, including completely revised program structures, a newly-designed user interface and a host of other innovations.

The user interface and client structure is based on the integration of a new database interface (OMNIS Studio), which permits Media City to operate under Mac OSX and allows the user to play audio and video files (AVI, Quicktime, WAV, MP3) directly. The system’s open structure permits future expansion using new modules and technologies; function blocks for ICC profile administration, automatic job archiving/de-archiving and the controlling the flow of data to commercial systems.

Opix has also released new process automation paths: a production framework transfers the image calculation processes from the database to sub-servers connected to the network. On file export, in addition to the desired format (e.g. EPS, TIFF, JPEG, GIF) and color space (LAB, CMYK, RGB), the color profile, output size, resolution and image sections are also calculated. Automatically generated and posted e-mails inform customers that they have data awaiting an FTP download.

Other highlights: incorporation of Hotfolder and XML technologies for structured import of files; automatic generation from QuarkXPress pages to PDF files without having to start an application; full text search in more than 60 formats, file allocation and file search options for entire projects or publications (digital containers).
Opix Media City offers the following advantages:
• Solutions to data archiving problems in online and offline areas
• Creates new services, extending long-term customer relationships
• A competitive edge as a result of a technological lead
• Greater options for expansion
• Focus on planning, production and administration in the digital workflow.
