Enovation Sells Hybinette Server to the World’s Largest Company

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Retail giant Wal-Mart has purchased Hybinette server and storage equipment from Enovation Graphic Systems, Inc. Kansas City-based James Struble, together with Little Rock-based Derral Cloyd, sold the Hybinette Granite server to provide storage and transfer capabilities to the prepress department of Wal-Mart corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Ark. The company purchased its first server, a Hybinette Feldspar, in 1996.

The Granite offers several innovative features, including an enclosed rack design and single or multiple CPU modules available in Intel, NT or 2000, Sun Solaris or Power PC. The server will provide Wal-Mart with over ½ Terabyte of storage.

This year Wal-Mart, already the largest retailer in the world, gained the title: world’s largest company, when it was named #1 on the Fortune 500 list. To illustrate the magnitude of being named the largest company in the world, consider this: its sales are on track to exceed $200 billion, which beats out the previous top-spot holder General Motors. That makes Wal-Mart the first service company to rise to the top of the Fortune 500, and no service company has ever been larger than the top industrial companies.
