Five Activities for Wine Lovers in the Tristate Area
The tristate area is a great place to be for vino lovers in June. With more than 140 wineries in Pennsylvania alone, experiencing five activities for wine lovers in the region is a piece of cake.

Treat Dad on Father’s Day
On Sunday, June 17, Penns Woods Winery is open all day for a free Father’s Day tasting. All dads are invited to sniff and taste to determine their four favorites. This family-run winery has 40 years of experience with award-winning Pennsylvania wines to prove it. Visit their tasting room at 124 Beaver Valley Road in Chadds Ford, Penn. Call 610-459-0808 for more information.

Relax with jazz and wine
Vynecrest Vineyards and Winery, located at 172 Arrowhead Lane, Breinigsville, Penn., offers jazz, wine tasting and Lisa Morton quiches on the last Sunday of every month. They also host tours during the summer. The 19th century Swiss bank barn includes a patio with an impressive view of the vineyard located in the rolling hills of Lehigh Valley. Visit vynecrest.com for directions.

Follow a wine trail
You can create your own wine trail no matter where you live in the Garden State at newjerseywines.com. Six unique trails are suggested by the New Jersey Wine Growers Association, but you can start and finish wherever you like. Visit the website for maps, winery locations and distances. It’s a good idea to double check with each winery to be sure that they're open on your preferred date.

Learn about organic wine
New York Vintners is holding a “Farm to Table Organic Food & Wine Class” on Tuesday, June 19, at 21 Warren St., New York City. Learn how organic-minded chefs and sommeliers pair a three-course tasting menu of sustainable foods and six naturally produced organic wines. Environmentally conscious wine lovers in the tristate area will want to invite their friends along to prove that “organic” doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice flavor. Call 212-812-3999 to make your reservation.

Cruise with a workshop
Mark your calendar for June 30 from 2-4:45 p.m. for “Refreshing Reds and Roses! Cheese Friendly & Delicious!” Cruise around New York City in a 1920s motor yacht with an enclosed glass observatory. Explore the distinctive tastes and aromas of red and rose wines and learn why they pair perfectly with artisan cheeses. The event is sponsored by the Classic Harbor Line located at Chelsea Piers, Pier 62 across from West 23rd Street and the Hudson River. Call 212-627-1825 for more details.

No matter which of these five activities for wine lovers in the tristate area appeals to your sense of adventure, you’re guaranteed to know a lot more about wine when you get home.
