Rail Europe Group Launches New Agent Web Site
Rail Europe Group launched an agent-only Web site using the brand name Avanti Destinations (www.avantidestinations.com), the Portland, Ore.-based operator acquired by Rail Europe in 2000.

On the site, agents can create packages using any combination of consolidated or bulk air, hotels, car rentals, rail tickets and tours from the combined live inventory of the Rail Europe Group, which includes Avanti and some rail products from Destination Europe Resources (DER), which was acquired by Rail Europe Group last February. Eventually, all DER products will be incorporated into the site.

Online bookings pay 15% commission through June 15. After that, the base rate will be 10%, higher for preferred vendors. Rail Europe maintains its consumer sites, www.raileurope.com for rail products and www.e-vacations.com for air, car rentals, hotels and tours.
