Carnival Cruise Lines Repositions Elation
Carnival Cruise Lines announced that the 2,052-passenger Elation will launch the line's first seven-day cruise program from Galveston, Texas, and the 2,124-passenger Carnival Pride will operate week-long Mexican Riviera sailings from the Port of Long Beach/Los Angeles beginning in fall 2003.

The 70,000-ton Elation, currently based in Los Angeles, will begin service from Galveston Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, offering a one-of-a-kind "exotic" seven-day western Caribbean cruise program featuring a day-long call at Belize City, Belize; as well as visits to Cozumel and Progreso/Merida, Mexico. The 88,500-ton Carnival Pride, currently homeported in Port Canaveral, Fla., will reposition to the West Coast to assume the Elation's popular seven-day Mexican Riviera program Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003.

First Seven-Day 'Fun Ship' Cruise Program from Galveston Beginning Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, the Elation will launch Carnival's first year-round seven-day cruise program from Galveston, joining the 1,486-passenger "Fun Ship" Celebration which has operated four- and five-day cruises from that port since September 2000.

On its new seven-day program, the Elation will depart Galveston every Sunday and visit Belize, Cozumel and Progreso/Merida, each of which offers a variety of interesting sites and attractions, including various archaeological ruins and pyramids, as well as gorgeous white-sand beaches, and myriad shopping and watersports opportunities.

Seven-Day Mexican Riviera Voyages Aboard Carnival Pride Beginning Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, Carnival Pride will take over the Elation's popular seven-day Mexican Riviera cruise program. Voyages will depart every Sunday from the new $40 million "Long Beach Cruise Terminal at the Queen Mary," located adjacent to the historic 1936 ocean liner, which now serves as a tourist attraction, complete with three restaurants, catering, weddings, attractions and a 365-room hotel.

Carnival Pride's new Mexican Riviera program will feature an extra-long nine-hour stay in scenic Cabo San Lucas, in addition to day-long visits to the seaside resort cities of Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan, all famous for their centuries-old landmarks, excellent shopping and sportfishing opportunities, and magnificent beaches.

Carnival Pride, which entered service earlier this year, provides consumers with an exciting new "Fun Ship" option on this popular route and features such innovations as indoor and outdoor wrap-around promenades, a wedding chapel, and a reservations-only supper club offering prime aged beef and other gourmet cuisine.

Additionally, Carnival Pride will offer the highest percentage of balconied staterooms of any year-round West Coast-based cruise ship.
