Amtrak launched a winter promotion that reduces the rail line's lowest fare by 30% Dec 6 to Dec 20. Tickets must be purchased by Dec. 13, and reservations must be made at least seven days in advance. Up to two children can accompany each adult at 50% off a full adult fare. The discount is valid for all Amtrak trains, except for the Acela Express and Metroliner in the Northeast, and the Cascades trains in the Northwest.
