The SEMA Show in Las Vegas has become a signature event for BMW to reach out to fans and aficionados over the last several years, and its commitment to bringing the best in BMW M Performance Parts and Original BMW Accessories directly to its base was quite evident with its offerings at the 2017 SEMA Show.
Arguably at the forefront of BMW’s presence at SEMA was the one-of-one 2018 BMW M3 “30 Years American Edition,” which debuted at the show as a means to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original M3 in the United States. Designed by BMW Group Designworks and built through BMW Individual, the “30 Years American Edition” wears a Frozen Red II Metallic low-gloss exterior paint andfeatures a red, white, and blue interior theme including BMW Individual Opal White Merino leather with Mugello Red Merino leather stripes and blocks of Fjord Blue Merino, while red, white and blue contrast stitching provides a patriotic detail even at the smallest scale. The vehicle rests on one-of-a-kind M Performance Golden light alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires; and features M color roof stripe graphics. The 30th Anniversary graphic was inspired by the 3 Series 40 th Anniversary graphic. The bold red, white and blue color scheme is tempered by a subtle motif inspired graphic inscribed on the headrest, decorative trim, and the rear sun-shade. The achromatic graphic juxtaposes “30th” over the American flag symbolizing the 30 years Americans have been expressing their passion for the BMW M3 in the US.
BMW also used SEMA’s platform to debut M Performance Parts to be paired with the all-new 2018 BMW M5. This includes BMW M Performance aerodynamics components, handcrafted from carbon fiber, that will enhance the new BMW M5 both in terms of aesthetics and performance. Also available for the BMW M5 are the M Performance adjustable suspension with red coil springs and the M Performance exhaust system.
For customers with electrified BMW i and BMW iPerformance vehicles like the BMW i3 or BMW i8, the 2017 SEMA Show marked the debut of the BMW TurboCord™ Electric Vehicle Charger. Available at certified BMW Centers for $499 MSRP, the BMW TurboCord offers charging up to nearly three times faster than the standard occasional use cable (OUC) when used with a 240-volt outlet (NEMA 6-20). Features of the BMW TurboCord EV Charger include unit and plug temperature monitoring and automatic shut-off, and its waterproof casing makes it suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Joining these new products on display at the 2017 SEMA Show were numerous BMW M Performance Parts and Original BMW Accessories and vehicles including the BMW 740e xDrive iPerformance, BMW 440i Gran Coupe, BMW 540i, BMW X3 xDrive30i, Moto GP BMW M2 Safety Car and the 1981 BMW M1 IMSA Group 4 Race Car.
