BMW’s lineup of stylish and powerful Sports Activity Coupes will add the all-new BMW X2 beginning in the spring of 2018. The 2018 BMW X2 combines BMW X’s distinctive styling with unique, muscular proportions and a dynamic take on the signature BMW kidney grilles, and BMW TwinPower Turbo engine technology and xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive provide an appropriately exhilarating experience behind the wheel.
The BMW X2 slots above the BMW X1 numerically, but it stands 3.2 inches shorter and sits 2.8 inches lower. With short overhangs and a coupe-style roofline, the 2018 BMW X2 looks athletic and powerful.
“The BMW X2 fuses the fast-moving forms of a coupe with the robust volumes of an X model,” said Thomas Sycha, Head of Design, BMW Compact Class. “It was important to us to make these apparently conflicting aspects of the BMW X2 and the car’s individual character something you experience from every angle and at first glance.”
From the front, something about the 2018 BMW X2 will stand out as being radically different to aficionados: the first-ever X2 inverts the famous kidney grilles, aligning it with bold linework, creating balance with its sharp LED Headlights with Cornering Lights and LED Fog Lights, and emphasizing the coiled, robust stance of the vehicle. Additionally, the X2 will be offered in six exterior color choices, allowing you to customize your SAC to your personality.
Informing that athletic demeanor is the BMW X2’s 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine, which utilizes technologies like High Precision Direct Injection, VALVETRONIC, and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing to deliver optimal performance. This stout BMW TwinPower Turbo, mated to a sporty eight-speed Steptronic transmission, delivers 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of peak torque and makes possible a 0 to 60 mph sprint of as little as 6.3 seconds.
The BMW X2 is made all the more thrilling by the inclusion of the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), which work together to ensure superlative cornering and directional stability irrespective of road and weather conditions. For a more customizable driving experience, the Driving Dynamics Control switch allows for choice between COMFORT, ECO PRO, and SPORT modes; available Dynamic Damper Control and the M Sport suspension offered with the BMW X2 M Sport X make that dynamism all the more apparent to driver, passenger, and passerby alike.
The 2018 BMW X2 also delivers expected interior comfort with BMW X’s particular seating positions, high-quality materials throughout the cabin, mood-bolstering ambient lighting, and an optional panoramic sunroof. The 2018 X2 also comes with standard sport seats for the ultimate in comfort.
Intelligence is also prioritized through the additional of BMW ConnectedDrive and BMW Connected, iDrive Controller, and standard 6.5-inch freestanding Control Display. In terms of safety, the 2018 BMW X2 delivers with optional ACC Stop & Go + Active Driving Assistant and an available Driving Assistance Package that adds Lane Departure Warning, Automatic High Beams, Frontal Collision Warning, and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking.
“The BMW X2 represents an expression of modern and extrovert vehicle dynamics,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President, BMW Group Design. “Its standalone vehicle concept brings a new, fresh and exciting facet of the BMW to the compact segment.”
