Rediscover God in America: March 26
.jpg?i=030511093731)
Dear Pastor,
I know you share my concern about the eroding of our great heritage as a nation founded on Biblical truth. God has been systematically expunged from American culture, leading many to ask, “Where is God in America today?” I think you will agree that it’s time to reclaim our great heritage and bring God back to the center of American life.
Trinity Church will host a special event on March 26 that will educate and equip Christians with the truth about God and America:
REDISCOVER GOD IN AMERICA
Saturday, March 26, 2011
9am til 3pm
Featuring: Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, George Barna, David Barton, and others
This event, which will be viewed via webcast on a large screen, brings together an impressive line-up of great American thinkers and speakers who will lay a foundation of critical knowledge for the community of faith. We'll learn how to interpret and assess current events in light of God's Word, as our founding fathers did, and how to respond Biblically and take action that aligns with His truth.
I invite you to join our congregation for this important event. There is no charge to participate. Box lunches from Jason’s Deli are $5.00. Every pastor who attends ...

What's Next for Defense of Marriage Act?
http://www.libertyinstitute.org/
by Kelly Shackelford, Liberty Institute

Dear Friend of Liberty,
I write to you today with great disappointment in President Obama and his Justice Department, but also with hope.
Last Friday, we told you that the Obama administration now refuses to defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). This is the law that has protected traditional marriage since 1996, when it was passed by a bipartisan vote of Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton.
America elected a President, not a king, and it is a President’s job to defend our nation’s laws, regardless of whether or not he agrees with the law itself. No one is above the law, especially not the man whose job it is to enforce the law. President Obama’s refusal to defend the law is outrageous.
In addition, there are numerous lawsuits currently in the courts in which same-sex advocates are working to overturn DOMA, including one in a federal circuit court in which a hearing is approaching soon. There are deadlines in these cases, some of which are only weeks away.
If DOMA is overturned in the courts, new rulings allowing same-sex marriage and forcing the states and federal government to recognize those “marriages” could become the new law of the land, trumping even state constitutions.

What the Bible Says About Marriage and its Defense
by Pastor John Crimmins
“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother
and cleave to his wife…” Genesis 2:24
In a stunning reversal of policy the Obama Administration has declared The Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) to be unconstitutional and will therefore no longer defend it against legal challenges to its constitutionality. Americans are nevertheless to take comfort in the assurance that the administration will continue to enforce DOMA. This blatant political ploy is duplicitous on at least two counts. First, the decision is an obvious attempt by an administration with flagging approval numbers to shore up its ultra-left base. At the same time it offers the appearance of business as usual to values voters. What it really does is place the Obama Administration in the position of serving as the chief of law enforcement, while at the same time rendering judgment as though it were the Supreme Court. That will lead ultimately to a complete failure to enforce not only this law, but any other that it doesn’t like.
Second it pits the constitution against the bible on a matter of fundamental human morality. Dr. Al Mohler, President of Southern Seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention called the administration’s action, “A tragic milestone in the betrayal of marriage.” God, not the Constitution, instituted and defined marriage. The beginning of marriage is recorded in the bible as one of the first declarations of God after the creative process. Adam had no suitable counterpart, so God created one for him. In the familiar words of the Genesis story God took a rib from Adam and used it to fashion Eve. When Adam saw Eve he was delighted. God’s commentary follows their union: “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and they will become one flesh.”
In this famous passage we are reminded that marriage was established by God. Adam was alone. This was “not good”. God’s remedy was woman. So the passage also reminds us that marriage as established by God was intentionally and by design, heterosexual.
When Adam was alone and his condition...
