Guest Commentary: Critical Primary Election Races for Texas State Board of Education
These races will be felt nationwide!
by Kelly Coghlan

Executive Director’s Note:  This guest commentary by our good friend, attorney and outstanding champion of religious liberty, Kelly Coghlan, is not an official position of TXPC or associated pastor councils.  However, my personal views based on experience and knowledge of incumbents Mercer and McLeroy in particular mirror Kelly’s thoughts exactly.  They have both championed strong faith, family values and excellence in education against the massive Education Industrial Complex of secularism, elitism, liberalism, multiculturalism, etc.  Christian voters who care about the education of children in the government schools MUST vote and SHOULD stand strongly with those who are standing for us!

If you wonder how important these races are nationally, please read the New York Times article “How Christian Were The Founders”.  The nation is watching again.  Blessings, Dave Welch

Dear Friends of Students:

The Texas State Board of Education elections are the most important Republican Primary elections this year (and early voting begins today). The future of 4.7 Million Texas children (and 46 Million other public school students across America) hangs in the balance.  If you aren't convinced, click on this link and watch this short clip from the Huckabee Show, Fox News:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfoI21yHGXg

TEXAS HAS ITS OWN "SCOTT BROWN" OPPORTUNITIES

The 5 Conservative Republicans (running against well funded more liberal Republican opponents) for State Board of Education positions are...

Your Precinct Convention - High Impact Ministry for Faith, Family and Freedom!
Want to impact the political parties' for your values - attend on March 2!
by Staff

Much visibility is given to national political conventions but it all starts right in your own neighborhood - the Precinct Convention/Caucus.  Every delegate to District, State and (in Presidential election years) National Conventions is determined starting at the precinct level.

YOU have the chance to shape your political party's local, state and national platforms and therefore foundational philosophy.

YOU help decide if "the party" reflects Biblical, godly values or worldly, secular and ungodly philosophies.

YOU can do this IF you vote in the party primary in early voting or on March 2 and ATTEND the precinct convention held where you vote immediately after polls close.  Essentially everyone who wants to can be elected as delegate or alternate delegate to the district convention.  Your vote and voice have exponential impact by just participating at this level.

WILL YOU?

If you have never attended your Precinct Meeting … please consider  attending one of these three workshops at Second Baptist Church (as listed below).

This is the one day you can vote TWICE in the same day!  PLEASE ATTEND … YES … YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!  Like the walls of Jerusalem, our nation's walls of religious freedom, justice, compassion, and morality are crumbling. In contemporary America, we need more people of Nehemiah's skill, leadership and character to rebuild our nation.

Convention Workshops

We will hold workshops addressing the basics of what happens at precinct meetings to inform those who are new to this process and to help others in becoming more effective. Attend just one workshop and bring a friend or neighbor...

Marriage Savers 'Divorce-Proofing' Couples

by CBN News

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- In a time when many Americans accept that a 50 percent divorce rate is inevitable, some communities have found ways to nearly "divorce-proof" the marriages in their area.

One example is the Kansas City metro area. While the divorce rate in Kansas City, Mo. was going up between 1995 and 2005, just across the border in smaller Kansas City, Kan., the divorce rate was plunging.

Clergy on the Kansas side believe they know what made the difference. Pastor Jeff Meyers of Christ Lutheran Church in a Kansas City suburb was distressed with the devastating effects he was seeing as a result of marriages falling apart.

"If it fails, it's the pebble in the pond, the waves reverberate out and go on for generations," he told CBN News.

Research shows children of divorce still feel the pain of the breakup well into their adult life...

Abbott working to stop gay women's divorce

by By R.G. RATCLIFFE, Houston Chronicle Austin Bureau

A Travis County state district judge on Feb. 10 granted a divorce in court to Sabina Daly, 41, of San Antonio, and Angelique Naylor, 39, of Austin. Abbott's aides went to court the following day to block the divorce before the written decree was entered.

“A divorce is an ending or a termination of a valid legal marriage,” Abbott said Tuesday. “In this instance there was no valid legal marriage recognized by the state of Texas. Texas can't have a faulty precedent on the books that validates an illegal law.”

But Daly's lawyer, Bob Luther of Austin, said Judge Scott Jenkins rendered a decree of divorce in open court. Abbott's filing was a day late, Luther said. He acknowleged Abbott's motion probably will mean continuing litigation.

“It matters because it leads to a lot of unnecessary expenses on the part of the two parties,” Luther said.

He said the women married in Massachusetts in 2004, and ran a home restoration and renovation business together. Daly was a general contractor and Naylor the real estate agent, Luther said.
