How pathetic preaching damages national security
http://www.wnd.com/index.php/index.php?pageId=1113...
by Dave Welch, USPC Executive Director

September 29, 2009

One of the country's most articulate and credible voices on the threat of radical Islam within our borders stated last week that it is the greatest threat to our nation today beyond any other domestic issues we are addressing. In the strictly national security and geopolitical contexts, this person was right. As she stated, government takeover of health care and other industries are not a concern to those who are dead.

I'll have to admit, however, that my spirit rejected the notion that radical Islam is THE greatest threat to America any more than it was when Muhammad's hordes were sweeping on horseback through northern Africa, the Middle East and into western Europe a millennia ago. Imperialist Islam has been defeated and contained before and certainly can be again.

The question is whether there are as many Christians left in America willing to live and die for our faith, families and freedom as there are orthodox Muslims willing to kill and die for theirs.

The pathetic preaching that has created a generation of shallow, self-focused professing followers of Jesus Christ has done far more damage to our national security than any conspiracies of men of any religion or no religion, any race and any creed could do...

Dallas judge clears way for gay divorce
Attorney general plans to appeal ruling

(See the TXPC press release responding to this ruling)

DALLAS
— A Texas judge cleared the way for two Dallas men to get a divorce, ruling Thursday that Texas' ban on same-sex marriage violates the constitutional guarantee to equal protection under the law.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said he'd appeal the ruling, which he labeled an attempt to strike down the ban approved by voters in 2005.

“The laws and constitution of the State of Texas define marriage as an institution involving one man and one woman,” Abbott said in a statement. “Today's ruling purports to strike down that constitutional definition — despite the fact that it was recently adopted by 75 percent of Texas voters.”

Abbott has argued that because the state doesn't recognize gay marriage, its courts can't dissolve one through divorce.

District Judge Tena Callahan's ruled Thursday, however, that the court “has jurisdiction to hear a suit for divorce filed by persons legally married in another jurisdiction.”

Jennifer Pizer, marriage project director for the New York-based gay rights group Lambda Legal, said it is too early to predict the ultimate implications of the lawsuit, in which neither man is identified...

$1,700 Per Family Tax Hike in Democrats’ New Senate Energy Bill
http://upgrade.texasinsider.org/?p=16343
by TexasInsider.org

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The average American family will pay an extra $1,761 a year in energy costs under the Democrats’ latest energy tax proposal unveiled today in the Senate, according to the Obama Administration’s U.S. Treasury Department analysis.  And that has Congressman John Carter (R-TX) renewing the national call to defeat the controversial legislation.

Washington is now overrun with people completely out-of-touch with the working families of this country,” says Carter, House Republican Conference Secretary.  “The House passed a horrible energy bill with this same kind of back-breaking tax hike on fuel and electric costs for families, and this latest Senate proposal is worse.  What is so infuriating is that we have tax-free, cost-saving, commonsense energy proposals that have been blocked by liberals for years just to satisfy radical environmentalists.  The tragedy is that these economically devastating and unfair proposals will not decrease carbon emissions at all.”

In contrast, House Republicans propose lifting the ban on offshore oil and gas drilling ban, opening Alaska for new oil production, building new refineries, increasing nuclear energy, and expansion of alternative energy sources such as wind, thermal, and solar power.

NOTE: Earlier this month, CBS News and other media outlets reported that a private analysis prepared by the Obama Administration’s Treasury Department estimates that the cap-and-trade national energy tax will result in an average $1,761 in increased costs for American families.

Please call Texas Congressmen and Senators and respectfully insist they strongly oppose this destructive legislation that will also severely damage U.S. industries and business far beyond even these costs!
