Austin Pastors - Go or No Go?

TO:  Key Austin Pastors

FROM:  Dave Welch, TXPC/USPC Executive Director

RE:  Impacting Austin for Life, Faith and Family

It has been a joy to meet with and assist you over the last several years and I am thankful for every pastor who has attended or been involved in the gatherings there for Austin Area Pastor Council.  As is obvious, with the challenges that Michael Lewis was facing, AAPC drifted for at least the last 18 months and after a couple small meetings with a few of you to assess the situation I am humbly presenting the following survey questions and this challenge to you:

(SEE SURVEY AT END OF MEMO)

I would also ask you to email me at dwelch@uspastorcouncil.org with your complete comments in addition to the survey below as I am very eager to hear from each of you in detail!

If the collective answers are Yes to #1 and #2, and No to #3, I will not harass you any further.  As I said to the pastors I first met with several years ago, it is YOUR turf and God has placed YOU as its caretakers – not me.  I will serve you in any way to assist with organizing, training, education and mobilization if you have a committed team of pastors representing African-American, Anglo and Hispanic churches with denomination being not important but being like-minded very much so – if you so choose.  Brent Bullock has made himself available to serve you on the ground there and I would certainly support and work with him if you make the commitment to lead and support him in that role.

It is obvious by the response to the current chaos in our state and local governmental policies by average citizens everywhere including greater Austin that there is a desperate need for godly leadership. You just need to decide if it is an important enough ministry to do something about it.

Please take this with the love and respect I have for each of you, however my conviction that our Biblical duty to be stewards of what has been given to us compels me to risk being offensive.  Over 1.2 million Americans have died for our freedom, millions more of our ancestors and brethren of the Cross have given their lives so we can be blessed.  What are we going to do about it?

CONCLUSION:  I will compile any responses and provide them to you.  I will also commit to personally coming to Austin once a month to train, support and/or enlist as you determine beneficial to the effort – if there is one.

If we are going to do something, let’s DO something!

Well…..?

Blessings in Christ,
