In an effort to recognize and certify outstanding Green Nonprofits and promote their services, GreenNonprofits has established the certification program. By participating in this program and becoming certified, your Nonprofit will publically declare your commitment to these principles while joining this unique global group of superior organizations.

There is no cost to start the program and there is no specific timeframe to achieve your goals in.

The GreenNonprofits certification process is unique to each nonprofit/NGO’s goals to become greener.  To complete the program it could take weeks, months, or more depending on how much time you are willing to give towards making the necessary business operation changes.

When viewing the certification page on the GreenNonprofits, Inc website (www.greennonprofits.org) you can fill out an application and create your personal certification checklist. This checklist is based off a point system and each step that you complete towards becoming greener is worth a certain number of points.

You earn 100 points, submit your application with the goal of publically being recognized as a GreenNonprofit.

To give you more helpful advice towards achieving certification we plan to include articles in our newsletter that put a focus on each of the steps.  As you will notice in this particular newsletter we provided information and resources geared towards the Transportation step in the certification checklist.

So, why should you become certified?

- It provides easy to understand guidelines

- It’s a concrete path towards making the necessary changes of becoming Green[er]

- It’s achievable

- Because the environment needs you!
