Navy Capitol Hill Workshop

The purpose of the Navy Capitol Hill Workshop is to provide a first-hand understanding not only of congressional process and procedure, but also the "culture" that is the United States Congress. Over the four days, participants will hear from - and be afforded the opportunity to ask questions of - Members of Congress, congressional staff, academic observers, interest group representatives, news media representatives, and executive branch officials, including Navy Office of Legislative Affairs staff. Each four-day workshop is conducted entirely on Capitol Hill.

Beginning with the second week in January, GAI has thus far conducted sixteen tailored versions of our New Congress class, from Rock Island Illinois to New York City to Virginia Beach. In the coming weeks we’ll be bringing the class to MacDill AFB in Tampa, Kennedy Space Center, Florida, Johnson Space Center, Houston, and parts in between, in addition to more than twenty classes in the Washington metro area.
At no point in recent history have we needed our government to work more effectively – and if the level of interest in understanding Congress is as high as the level of interest in our classes suggests, it’s an encouraging sign.
