The playoff push is in full effect. The 38-30 Grizzlies are currently in the 7th seed (and a half game back of the 6th seed) in the West. They are likely looking at a First Round match-up with San Antonio. This is, of course, if the standings stay as is over the last month of the season. With fourteen games left, there is a lot of opportunity to move up in the standings.
The ideal match-up (in this writer's opinion) is to move up into the 6th seed and play Houston in the First Round. While their record is impressive, the Houston team lacks a strong front-court presence and does not play great defense as a team. Expect Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph to have a big series if/when this match-up occurs.
On the injury front, words that should no longer surprise to Grizz fans: Chandler Parsons is out indefinitely with an injury to his knee. Parsons, who signed a max-deal this past off-season, has only played 34 games this year. He was coming of back-to-back knee issues with Dallas, so this is obviously a big set back for him after working hard to come back from those past injuries. The final decision on whether or not he needs surgery is expected to be made later this week.
