It's time for our 9th Annual May Madness! We will be kicking off our 9th Annual May Madness Customer Appreciation Days on Thursday May 27 at 9 AM. The WFIN Phone Club will be broadcasting live from 9-11 AM at The Farm Store to help start the festivities. The Farm Store will be open until 9 PM on Thursday and Friday. We will be opening at 9 AM on Friday and 10 AM on Saturday, and closing out May Madness on Saturday May 29 at 5 PM.

As always, there will be special bargains and markdowns on furniture throughout the Farm Store. All in stock giftware will be 25% OFF during May Madness, and there will be hourly door prize drawings, and a special grand prize drawing (need not be present to win!). There will be free Amish cookies for you to enjoy, and we will be offering 6 months SAC.

Friday evening will be a special night at The Farm Store. From 2-8 PM you will have a chance to come out and talk to some of our Amish builders. We will have representatives on hand from some of our chair, table, curio, bedroom, office and storage barn builders. This will certainly be an opportunity you won't want to miss! This is your chance to "talk shop" with some of the craftsmen who build your furniture! There will even be some special savings on these builder's featured items!

In addition, The Red Pig Inn from Ottawa, OH will be at The Farm Store from 5-8 PM on Friday May 28. They will be serving BBQ Pork sandwiches and buffet style sides. There will also be Amish pies and ice cream available. Tickets will be available at the door for $7.50 for adults, and $4.50 for children. The Granary in The Findlay Village Mall has relocated! The Granary is now located next to Sears, and across from Jo-Ann Fabrics. Our new location is larger and much more accomodating than our previous location. The added size has allowed us to carry more furniture and display it in a less congested area. With the introduction of a new store, we have brought some new items in to help with our Grand Re-Opening! Stop in and check out our new German Beech Wood Shaker Bedroom Suite. Memorial Day is May 31. Cook outs have become a Memorial Day favorite, and these two recipes from The Gooseberry Patch Summer cookbook will be a hit at your holiday cook out!

Barbecued Baby Back Ribs

2 T. olive oil
1 onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 clove garlic, peeled & finely chopped
1 c. ketchup
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 c. red wine vinegar
2 T. Worcestershire sauce
2 T. Dijon mustard
1 1/2 lbs. baby back ribs

Heat oil in saucepan, then add onion, celery and garlic. Saute about five minutes, until tender. Add all remaining sauce ingredients, stirring and simmering for about 10 minutes. Put sauce in food processor and whirl until smooth. Allow sauce to cool slightly. Bring a pot of water to a boil; simmer ribs, covered, for about 20 minutes. Drain ribs and dry with paper towels; baste generously with sauce. Grill for 5 to 6 minutes on one side. Turn ribs and baste again. Grill ribs for 6 minutes longer and serve with extra sauce.

*Boiling the ribs first tenderizes them and removes excess fat.

Blue Cheese Potato Salad

8 c. potatoes, boiled, peeled & cubed
1/2 c. scallions, chopped
1/2 c. celery, chopped
2 T. parsley, chopped
1/2 c. almond slivers, toasted
1/2 t. celery seed
2 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper, freshly ground
1/2 c. blue cheese, crumbled
2 c. sour cream
1/4 c. white wine vinegar

In a large bowl, combine potatoes, scallions, celery, parsley, almonds, celery seed, salt and pepper. In another bowl, mix together blue cheese, sour cream and vinegar. Pour over potatoes and toss to coat. Chill overnight.

*Try a variation of this recipe with baby red potatoes, no need to peel. Garnish with fresh dill.
