Gateway Port New Container Terminal, Callao, Peru TMEIC GE is providing its MaxSpeed
® Crane Control System at the new Callao, Peru port, a key transshipment hub and gateway port for the west coast of South America near Lima, Peru.
The new container terminal, with 1 million TEU capacity, will initially be constructed with two berths comprising 650 meters of quay line and 22 hectares of yard. The terminal is expected to be operational in second quarter, 2010. The berths will initially be capable of handling vessels of up to 8000 TEU nominal capacity.
TMEIC GE’s advanced Crane Management Systems (CMS) provides control system diagnostics to optimize crane maintenance and availability. The MaxSpeed Crane Control System uses TMdrive™-10 adjustable speed drives to control the speed and direction of the crane motors driving the gantry, trolley, boom, cable reels and hoist. The TMdrive™-10 drives have proven reliability of 40,000 hrs. Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
