Severcorr’s next generation steel plant in Columbus, Mississippi is now in production. Using TMEIC GE’s drives systems and advanced process automation, the plant is producing Hot Roll, Hot Roll P&O, Cold Roll and Hot Dip Galvanized and Galvanealed steels for a number of industries.

TMEIC energy efficient drive systems are applied to the thin slab continuous caster/hot strip mill and TMEIC GE’s advanced process automation and drive systems are applied to the pickling line tandem cold mill, temper mill and continuous galvanizing line. The production and quality results are excellent. The equipment supplied includes AC motors, TMdrive-10 AC drives, TMdrive-70 high-power AC drives, V-series programmable logic controllers, operator interfaces, supervisory computers, and associated high speed communication networks.
 
A second melt shop and continuous caster are being added along with new push-pull pickle and galvanizing lines so that when complete, the mill will produce over 3 million tons per year of high quality steel sheet.
