The 2017 Dodge Durango SUV is known to be a sports car in disguise. With improvements inside and out for the 2017 model year, it’s better than ever.
The much-loved 2017 Dodge Durango was recently named to Strategic Vision’s “Most Loved Vehicles in America” list in the Mid-size SUV category for the third straight year, as well as wining the Large SUV segment from Consumer Guide® Automotive’s Best Buys for the fifth consecutive year.
The newest Durango adds a significant number of changes for the 2017 model year, including a new sporty GT model and an available Anodized Platinum Appearance Package on Citadel models--the latter includes two-tone Nappa leather seats and unique trim, plus a rear-mounted camera that lets you view trailered items. The Blacktop and Brass Monkey Appearance Packages also return for 2017.
The 2017 Dodge Durango places its main emphasis on utility, with 50 different seating configurations and seating for up to seven. The second-row seats can recline 18 degrees and come with an optional heating function. They can also split 60/40 and can fold and tumble to accommodate larger items. For buyers who place a priority on comfort, the second row can be equipped with captain’s chairs with a pass-through for easy access to the third row. The third row splits 50/50 and can also be folded flat. With seven passengers in place, the Durango offers up to 17.2 cubic feet of cargo space; with the second and third row folded, that number jumps to 84.5 cubic feet.
The Durango is motivated by two excellent engine choices, each paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine makes up to 295 hp and 260 lb/ft of torque with fuel estimates rated at 26 mpg on the highway. The second option is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces impressive power ratings of 360 hp and 390 lb/ft of torque. Both engines offer best-in-class towing capacities, with the V6 rated up to 6,200 pounds and the HEMI V8 rated up to 7,400 pounds. A finely-tuned suspension helps the Durango achieve a class above ride too. All-wheel drive is available with both engines, enhancing handling and traction in all conditions.
The Durango has more than 60 safety and security features, highlighted by Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop, Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection, and Uconnect® Access with 9-1-1 Call and Roadside Assistance. All models come standard with seven airbags, Trailer Sway Control, Electronic Stability Control, and antilock brakes with Rain Brake Support and Ready Alert Braking. The ParkSense® rear park assist system and ParkView® rear backup camera are also available.
The Durango’s wide range of standard and available amenities will keep you comfortable and connected on the go. Standard features include a seven-inch Thin-Film-Transistor gauge cluster and three-zone automatic temperature control with an air filtration system. On higher trim levels, you’ll find options like Nappa leather seating surfaces, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. The award-winning Uconnect 8.4 infotainment system is available, and buyers can also choose from two upgraded audio systems – a nine-speaker Alpine® or a BeatsAudio™ premium sound system. The Durango can also be equipped with a class-exclusive Blu-ray™ rear-seat entertainment system with a nine-inch screen incorporated into each of the front seatbacks.
