Vehicle Profile: 2017 Dodge Challenger GT
An American muscle coupe with all-wheel drive
The Dodge Challenger is an award-winning vehicle with plenty of customization options, and it now offers something no other American muscle coupe does: All-Wheel Drive.
The two-door 2017 Dodge Challenger GT is the only vehicle in its segment to offer the availability of All-Wheel Drive (AWD) to deliver the performance and confidence you’ve come to expect from Dodge, regardless of weather conditions. This AWD system is the same one that is found in the four-door Dodge Charger, featuring a front-axle disconnect and active transfer case for ideal traction and minimal fuel penalty. With no input from the driver, the Challenger can transition from rear-wheel drive to AWD so you get the best of both worlds. The standard Vehicle Dynamic Control is especially helpful in wintry conditions like snow and ice, but it also aids in a pleasurable driving experience in all conditions.
The GT is powered by the popular 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that makes 305 hp and 268 lb/ft of torque, while still managing to return up to 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. A TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission is standard. Other performance enhancements for the GT model include dual exhaust and a tuned induction system.
A 1971-inspired design brings a bold power bulge hood, split-grille, LED halo headlights and taillights, fog lamps and a rear spoiler. You’ll also find Hyper Black finished 19-inch aluminum wheels with all-season performance tires.
Inside, the GT is as luxurious as it is powerful with a heated steering wheel, Nappa leather, power front seats with heat and ventilation, bright pedals, and the Uconnect® infotainment system with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ connectivity. The GT comes standard with a six-speaker Alpine audio system, but you can replace that with a nine-speaker Alpine system or a phenomenal 18-speaker Harman/Kardon system. The available GT Interior Group includes Nappa leather/Alcantara suede seats and a Dodge performance steering wheel. Other additional features include Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection and remote start.
“Dodge is shifting the muscle car paradigm with the new 2017 Dodge Challenger GT – the world’s first and only all-wheel-drive American muscle coupe,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “The Challenger has always been the most wide-ranging and functional muscle coupe, and now, with the new 305-horsepower all-wheel-drive Challenger GT, we are stretching the functional and geographic boundaries even further.”
The new GT (MSR P$33,395) joins the diverse Challenger lineup, which consists of 14 trim levels: SXT, SXT Plus, R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Shaker, T/A, R/T Scat Pack, R/T Plus Shaker, T/A Plus, 392 HEMI® Scat Pack Shaker, T/A 392, SRT® 392, and SRT Hellcat. Production has already started and models will start arriving soon, so let us know if you’re interested and we’ll get you behind the wheel as soon as possible.
