Series 90-30 DeviceNet Master Module
by Sebastiian Seow

Summary

GE Fanuc is pleased to introduce the Series 90-30 DeviceNet Master Module, IC693DNM200. This module provides the Series 90-30 the capability of a DeviceNet Conformance Tested Master. The module supports networks up to 63 slaves (the maximum allowed by the DeviceNet specification). The Master can support a total of up to 3972 bytes of input data and 3972 bytes of output data. The Master can support up to 255 Bytes of input data and 255 bytes of output data per slave. The module is UCMM capable, supports polling, Cyclic, Change-of-State, Strobe I/O Connections, and Explicit Messaging.

Features/Description

The IC693DNM200 DeviceNet Master module provides the Series 90-30 the capability to be a master on DeviceNet network(s). The module is DeviceNet Conformance Tested and conforms to the DeviceNet Specifications. The module supports 63 slaves, the maximum number allowed by DeviceNet.  The DeviceNet Data Rates (125K, 250K, and 500 Baud) are supported. Each Master module can support up to 3972 bytes of input data and up to 3972 bytes of output data. The Master can support up to 255 Bytes of input data and 255 bytes of output data per slave.   DeviceNet compliant Status LEDs for ¡°Module Status¡± and ¡°Network Status ¡± are provided, in addition a ¡°Network Power¡± LED is provided. The module is configured and initialized over the Series 90-30 backplane.

The following features are supported:

  • UCMM capable (one proxy connection per slave)
  • Up to 2 I/O connections per Slave
  • Fragmented Poll, Cyclic and Change of State (COS) I/O connections
  • Non-fragmented Strobe I/O connections
  • PLC application initiated Explicit Messaging via COMMREQs
  • Independentent configuration of update rates for each polled I/O device
  • Global update rate for Poll and Strobe Slave devices
  • The Master can operate simultaneously as a Slave.

The following status information is available for the DeviceNet network and connected slaves:

  • Slave Status Bit Array
  • DeviceNet Server Status Word
  • CAN Bus Status Word
  • Firmware Module Revision
  • COMMREQs to Read Module Header and Device Detailed Status

A RS232 service port is provided for firmware updates.

Compatibility

  • All current models of Series 90-30 CPUs with revision of 8.00 or higher will support the DeviceNet Master.
  • CIMPLICITY Machine Edition Logic Developer Version 3.00 is required to configure the DeviceNet Master. The DeviceNet Master is not supported byVersaPro and Logicmaster.
  • The DeviceNet Master can go in any I/O slot in a Main Rack, Expansion Rack, or Remote Rack (Note: performance will be decrease in Remote Racks).

System Capacity

¡¤        63 Slaves per DeviceNet Master

¡¤        3972 bytes of input data and 3972 bytes of output data per DeviceNet Master

¡¤        255 bytes of input data and 255 bytes of output data per connected slave.

¡¤        254 input data areas and 254 output data areas per DeviceNet Master

¡¤        Approximately 1365 data areas (sum of input and output data areas) per Series 90-30. (Note: Other modules in a Series 90-30 system also use data areas (Genius, Profibus, etc)

¡¤        Maximum of 512 CAN buffers in queue

Note: System capacities are based on CPU36x memory size and Version  10.60 CPU firmware. CPUs with smaller memory and older versions will have lower system capacities.
