New Product Life Cycle Policy
Protecting Customer Investments
by Sebastian Seow

GE Fanuc Manufactured Products
Hardware
GE Fanuc Automation is committed to protecting our customers' investment in our products.  At the appropriate point in the life cycle of a product, GE Fanuc will announce that the product is moving from an "Active" to a "Mature" product status, or from Mature to a ˇ°Discontinuedˇ± status.  The sum of the Mature plus Discontinued status periods is at least nine years.  The product will remain in a Mature status for a minimum of two years, during which, products and repair of products will be available.  Due to rapid technological changes, GE Fanuc may elect to supply equivalent (e.g., updated) modules.
Near the end of the Mature status period, customers will be given a minimum six-month notice that a product is moving from Mature to Discontinued status. At this time, customers will be offered an opportunity for a "Last Time Buy."  Subsequent to the Last Time Buy, orders for Discontinued products will no longer be accepted. GE Fanuc will continue to service the Discontinued product, i.e., provide Repair-and-Return or Exchange modules, subject to the availability of component parts.  This limited service excludes any technical support from the Tech Support Team.
Software
GE Fanuc Software Products are sold with a 90-day warranty.  Renewable support contracts are available.  Due to the dynamic nature of our software products and the operating systems and the hardware platforms that they depend on, GE Fanuc may, at its discretion, determine that a product is no longer feasible to offer for sale or is not supportable.  At that point in time, GE Fanuc will move the product to a ˇ°Discontinuedˇ± status.  GE Fanuc will support Discontinued products for a period of up to one year to users who hold a valid maintenance/support contract.  Customers with Discontinued products will be offered the ability to exchange, for a price, their software license for an alternative GE Fanuc Software Product if such a product exists.
Sourced Products
For sourced products, including third party embedded software, GE Fanuc endeavors to have our suppliers commit to long-term availability of product.  GE Fanuc will continue to support and supply products as long as they are available to us under our supplier agreements.
