CIMPLICITY Functional Upgrade Policy - 2002

This is to update Functional Upgrade Policy for CIMPLICITY automation software. There are two types of CIMPLICITY upgrades Functional and Version. Version upgrades are covered by the SAFE program and allow the customer to upgrade to the latest version of software.

Functional Upgrade Definitions
A Functional Upgrades are defined as follows
1.      The customer wants to change the point count of their current system. The customer may want to increase their point count (ex. 150 pt. to a 35,000 pt. server) or decrease their point count  downgrade (ex. Unlimited pt. to a 35,000 pt. server).

2.      The customer wants to change between Runtime and Development systems. This included changing a Runtime to a Development as well as from a Development to a Runtime.

The above two cases can be combined in any way (ex. 150pt Runtime to a 35,000pt Development, or 35,000pt Development to a 150 I/O Runtime, 150pt Runtime to a 35,000pt Runtime, etc).

Please Note: Functional Upgrades from Base Servers to ProServers are not allowed. You can only change from a Base Server to another Base Server or from a ProServer to a ProServer.

To remain with current release, a SAFE contract needs to be bundle with every new system purchased.
Upgrade Procedure
The distributor 's purchase order is for the net cost of the functional upgrade. The price of a functional upgrade is simply the difference in current list price of the two systems plus the $300 functional upgrade procesing fee (IC646NUU000) for each license being exchanged.

In the case of a "downgrade" where the new system price is less than the original system, the net difference is zero (ie the customer does not get money back.

Here's a quick example of how the PO price is calculated (using level 1 distributor multiplier):

Quantity Part number Description

Price (List Price - Distributor Multiplier)

1 BC646TDV935 35k I/O Dev.

$8,660 x .65 =$5,629

1 IC646NUU000 Functional Upgrade Processing Fee

$300x1. =$300

Credit IC646TDV700 700 I/O Dev.

$6,000x.65=(3,900)

Net PO amount $2,029

The PO amount in this example would be $2,029. FAX the PO with the completed Functional Upgrade form to the GE Fanuc APO Marketing at 86-10-65611530. The new CIMPLICITY license will be sent to the person specified in the form. The customer can register this license via the Web (
www.CIMPLICITYregistration.com).

Process for Functional Upgrades:
CIMPLICITY systems are available with a choice of device I/O counts (50, 75, 150, 300, 700, 1,500, 35,000 and unlimited) for both development and runtime systems.
- Utilizing a functional upgrade, a customer who has a limited device I/O count can upgrade to a higher point device I/O or from a runtime to a development system.
- In addition, a SAFE contract needs to be bundle with every new system purchased.
- Systems that were received at no charge (free), as part of the old 50 point I/O systems promotional program can not be considered for a functional upgrade. If a customer wants to increase their point count, they will have to purchase a new system. There is no credit for the free 50 point system.

All fields in the attached CIMPLICITY Functional Upgrade License Return form must be completed in order to process the order for the new license.
Incomplete forms can not be processed.
