WEBVIEW APPLICATION

CIMPLICITY HMI

What is Webview?

Webview is the feature that makes CIMPLICITY HMI screens to be viewed on a standard Internet browser like Internet explorer or Netscape Navigator. This feature gives unprecedented location freedom by allowing the user to see the data remotely from anywhere using Internet.  If you’re a CIMPLICITY user already, you just need to add license and the screen will be published on the Internet.

Why Webview?

Companies want to securely share and access production data remotely and efficiently with security. Data may be coming from the process graphics or other database resources. Companies are looking for a common interface across all of their desktop computers. Webview addresses this need by providing fast, cost effective methods to improve communications throughout the plant, as well as to customers and business partners.

Benefits

·         Location Independence (Remote Monitoring)

·         Fast and Easy setup (No setup required at viewers and No new screen creation needed)

·         Fast updates through Internet

·         No maintenance, so lower administration costs

·         Scalable system for future expansion. For larger number of viewers, broadcast mode can be turned on.

·         Less or no training required for the browsers.

·         Easily expand your base.

Advantages for End users

·         Access to plant information anytime and anywhere.

·         Respond quickly to the market changes and competitions.

·         Modify production schedules to meet current requirements

·         Provide up-to-date critical information to employees, business partners and customers

Licensing Structure:

Webview can be ordered for 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 User license. These licenses provide you read and write capability. If some users have more number of clients beyond these standard licenses, you can add additional licenses. For example you need 55-user licenses then you can buy one 50 and 5 User license. If you have large number of users who need to be updated with your plant data, then they can use one of the user licenses into broadcast license. In this mode the users can read all the data but cannot write. These normal mode or broadcast mode can be active simultaneously.

Security:

CIMPLICITY publish the Process data as web pages in HTML format.  Once the web page is opened, CIMPLICITY will prompt for the user name and password. Upon valid entry CIMPLICITY will establish connection with the server and show the data. This way unauthorized entry in to your project is protected.

How to add Webview License:

For CIMPLICITY Ver 4.01 or above go to the Start/Programs/CIMPLICITY/Registration. This will bring up the CIMPLICITY registration screen. Now press the ‘Add’ button and you will see a popup to add the Webview license. Just add the License number sent to you by GE Fanuc.  Now the system is ready to operate and send the data over the web.

If you do not have base registration then base system license must be purchased first. Then, it can be authorized from the web. www.CIMPLICITYregistration.com.
