The new Embedded

The new Embedded/Thin Client computers from GE Fanuc allow you to shift processing from local desktops to a cost-saving server structure.  The new computers feature embedded processors that use less power and typically require no active cooling, a common requirement for Pentium-based systems.

The innovative Embedded/Thin Client computers provide 15" active matrix TFT LCDs with NS Gx1 300 MHz Geode or StrongARM SA-1110 processors. Models include the DisplayPac-TC, PAC-NFP-15 and DisplayPac-ARM flat panel computer - for rack-mount, arm-mount and stand-alone solutions that meet the needs of most any application. For easy server configuration, the new industrial computers utilize Thin Client technology - which is inexpensive to implement, requiring no more than power and Ethernet connections to achieve full functionality.

The DisplayPac-TC is a full-featured Thin Client computer that can operate either in a Thin Client network or as a stand-alone system. Out of the box, the system is set up to be a client for a variety of Server/Client packages, including Microsoft Terminal Services (using RDP 5.0/5.01), Citrix (using ICA 6.0/6.2 protocols), and VNC. The DisplayPac-TC comes loaded with Microsoft Windows CE.net or XP embedded and can prevent users from making permanent changes to the system configuration through the use of protected Flash memory.  Other features include up to 256M RAM and 128M DOM, 10/100BaseT Ethernet, one RS-232 port, one parallel port, two USB ports, PCMCIA slot (wireless ready), and PS/2 mouse and keyboard. A resistive touchscreen and NEMA 4/12 panel-mount plate are optional.

The PAC-NFP-15 is the system integrator's best ready-to-play computing platform for home automation, security system and e-commerce applications. It is a modular, fan-less panel PC system powered by a NS GX1 300 MHz CPU with on-board 64M SDRAM and has the design of built-in HDD, DOC / DOM, LAN and CCD Camera. The PAC-NFP-15 is constructed of heavy-duty aluminum with silver coating and has a MTBF rating of over 50,000 hours. A resistive touchscreen and IDE HDD 2.5"/ Disk-on-Chip & Disk-on-Module for Windows CE storage device are available options.

The DisplayPac-ARM flat panel computing platform withstands the rigors of outdoor operation and operates without moving parts for maximum reliability. Powered by an Intel StrongARM SA-1110 206 MHz single board computer, the system offers low power operation while providing high-powered processing. This industrial computer offers display sizes of 6.4" VGA, 10.4" VGA, 10.4" SVGA and 12.1" SVGA. The DisplayPac-ARM is designed to run embedded operating systems including Windows CE, Linux and others, while running completely from on-board solid-state memory.  In addition to 64M Synchronous DRAM and 32M Flash memory, the system provides a type-II PCMCIA socket for additional storage capacity or alternately, for I/O modules such as GPS or wireless Ethernet. A resistive touchscreen and a host of I/O features are standard packaging.  With an operating temperature range of -40 to +70° Celsius, this industrial computer is ideally suited for many mobile applications.
