Just when you thought producer Simon Fuller had reached the top with his hit show American Idol, he had something else up his sleeve. On March 2, 2010, Fuller’s new show, If I Can Dream, premiered on online video service website Hulu. The show follows five aspiring stars as they try to make it big and, besides weekly broadcasts on Hulu, every moment of their lives will stream 24/7 on www.ificandream.com. Although viewers will follow these actors, models and musicians around Hollywood and the participants’ homes, the “sixth bedroom” of the show – the 2011 Ford Fiesta – will serve as the participants’ primary transportation. With the If I Can Dream tour visiting New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans, Dallas, Phoenix, San Francisco and Los Angeles, it looks like the spunky Fiesta will have plenty of moments to shine.
The Fiesta first started turning heads with the Fiesta Movement, a series of “chapters” that followed 100 people over the course of six months driving European Fiestas around America. The drivers’ “missions” ranged from getting married in Las Vegas to recreating historic events, and their adventures were all posted on the video sharing website YouTube. In just months, the social media project had generated over six million views and thousands upon thousands of hits on sites like Flickr and Twitter. And so, after demonstrating the ultimate test drive, Simon Fuller came calling.
Vibrant and versatile, the Ford Fiesta is the perfect car to zip across America with aspiring stars in tow. With a projected best-in-class highway fuel economy of 40 mpg and 15 class-exclusive technologies, the 2011 Fiesta is already transforming the industry’s perception of efficiency and compact style. The five contestants – a model, an actor, two actresses and a musician – will stay connected with the Fiesta’s SYNC voice-activated communications system and indulge their artistic temperaments with the car’s revolutionary color palette and graphics.
Before If I Can Dream officially hit the web, over 6,000 consumers made reservations for the Fiesta and over 100,000 expressed interest. As viewers start to live life behind the wheel through the five artists, however, Ford is anticipating that heads will turn quickly. The featured vehicle contains three cameras that won’t miss a second of the journey.
Ford’s Fiesta campaign reflects the importance of authentic experience: real moments, brought to you by real people. If you want to experience the 2011 Fiesta for yourself, then head to your local dealership where it’ll be available this Summer.
