The proceeds from Dadfest will go to the Urology Research & Education Foundation (UREF) which is a non-profit organization located in Dallas, Texas. It was founded for the purpose of promoting awareness among patients and physicians about urologic diseases. The UREF is dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle and to encouraging early diagnosis through screening and regular medical evaluations to prevent urological diseases.
This fun filled event will be held on June 21, 2008, (the first Saturday after Father’s Day) at Texas Stadium in Irving, TX. Besides the 5K run there will also be such activities as a 50 yard dash for kids 8 and under, a diaper dash for babies and several fun events that are scheduled for before and after the run. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in the 5K run based on 18 different age groups for a total of over 50 prizes to be handed out! You can even have a look at the latest vehicles from Ford which will be on site at Texas Stadium!
There will also be free prostate cancer screenings held in the Dallas Cowboys locker room. You do not have to be a paid entrant or be entered in the 5K run to receive your free screening. Prostate cancer is a serious condition, and the early stages of the disease are often symptom free. All men over 40 should have an annual exam and be tested. Those with prostate cancer in their family history may even need it earlier.
For more information about the event including schedules and cost please visit the Dadfest website at www.dadfest.com. Again, you do not have to be registered to receive your free prostate screening, but you do have to be registered to participate in the 5K run so please visit this website for all of the registration details or if you just wish to make a donation to the Urology Research & Education Foundation.
We hope that you will join with us in celebration of our fathers and to help create awareness for their future health. We know you will have a great time and make memories that will last forever!
