Michigan Alumni Clubs Find New Solution
67 Univ. of Mich. Alumni Clubs Use OmniUpdate’s New Solution

"We are very excited to be working with alumni associations across the nation through OU Alumni. Alumni organizations have unique communication needs and our newest application greatly assists them in fulfilling those needs. Sixty-seven University of Michigan regional chapters have already realized the advantages of OU Alumni - and this is just the beginning." says Lance Merker, president and CEO of WebsiteASP, Inc.

It’s that simple – not to mention effective. With alumni organizations specifically in mind, OU Alumni improves the process of keeping alumni web pages up-to-date and empowers current staff, volunteers and alumni themselves to make updates and modifications. This ideal solution has recently been adopted by 67 alumni groups across the nation in the University of Michigan system.

Using a browser-based What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get editor with their existing alumni web sites, OU Alumni strengthens the connection between alumni and their university. Everything from calendar pages and newsletters, to reunion information and photos are quickly and easily being maintained on current alumni web sites. Without changing the architecture of the existing web site, OU Alumni is designed to improve web communications, provide more up-to-date alumni news and to promote membership, involvement and giving.

Enabling the current administration, OU Alumni allows designated individuals to quickly and easily create, update, and maintain web pages to deliver valued web communications that are demanded by the campus community. Non-technical staff can easily update web pages and keep departmental web sites current. OU Alumni maintains campus and chapter standards and consistency. It also saves time and money formerly used for IT expenses and works with the existing web site without modifications.

For example:
The UM Alumni Association in Toledo recently launched a new web page to “encourage [alumni] to check in regularly to learn about upcoming events in 2003 for all University of Michigan Alumni in Northwest Ohio.” The 2002-2003 Outstanding Club of the Year, UMAA Denver is looking to hire a new webmaster and advertises that applicants “don’t need programming experience” because OmniUpdate is user friendly. The Denver association also publishes web photo albums of each football game get-together, encouraging fellow alumni to join the next time U Mich. takes the field. UMAA in Washington DC makes sure that past events are taken off the web site, keeping information clean, up-to-date and timely. As with other associations, event calendars and alumni programs are frequently updated with dates, times, locations, directions, contact information and other need-to-know items. Thousands of alumni visit these sites and the information they seek is easily available through the updating technology from OmniUpdate.
