High Performance Data Storage Systems
New collegebuys.org Vendor

collegebuys.org is pleased to announce that Seek Systems has been added as a new vendor to the higher education cooperative purchase consortium. Seek Systems builds pre-configured data storage systems or systems built to user requirements.

Seek Systems FasFile storage arrays contain a proprietary “adaptive” caching platform that generates performance gains in running the application without changing any server or application software.  At the request of collgebuys.org, the performance benefits of the FasFile technology were confirmed in a recent system evaluation at San Joaquim Delta College running an Oracle application.

"I recently evaluated the Seek Systems FasFile RAID array in an Oracle database application.  While formal benchmarking metrics were not collected, my team did note that previous response time delays to report queries were not present on the Seek FasFile system."

- Dave Sartain, IT Director for San Joaquin Delta College

The FasFile “adaptive” caching controller identifies and retains recently and frequently used read/write data patterns for execution in the controller memory instead of on the disk drives.

In addition to the unique caching controller, up to six like or unlike servers can be connected concurrently to the same FasFile storage array (including Unix, NT, W2K, Linux, FreeBSD, AIX, Irix, Novell and other operating systems).  Seek’s multi-hosting capabilities provides an economical path to sharing the storage array.  FasFile systems are deployed in direct attached (SCSI) and SAN (fibre) environments.

Seek Systems also provides the Garrison family of RAID arrays that utilize EIDE disk technology.  Available with SCSI or Fibre controllers, the Garrison array use 80GB, 120GB, 160GB and 180GB disk drives and support a range of RAID levels.  The Garrison arrays are available in fully populated 8-bay and 12-bay rackmounted enclosures.  Garrison arrays represent a significant value in providing data storage at less than one cent per megabyte.

Seek Systems offers consortium members 20% discount from the system for both the FasFile and Garrison storage systems.  Additional product information on both storage families is available at www.seeksystems.com. System details and order information is available by contacting Bruce Rodgers at Seek Systems toll free at 800-790-7335 or by email at brodgers@seeksystems.com. Please provide the identifier code: collegebuys.
